I swear, I sometimes think all Zenimax cares about are the whales and thinks of its customers like we are shoppers in a supermarket.

It makes it really hard to keep playing. I cannot stand their business practices.

Capitalism thrives off of artificial scarcity, it's the driving force for this consumer economy. It's exploitative business practices but hey the whole system is built off of artificial scarcity one way or another.

Just another way in which Capitalism squanders the potential of this game.

Welcome to the wonderful world of capitalism!

On the other hand... without money grubbing companies fishing for your wallet, all you'd get to play would be Tetris.

In the end, its the same old question - is it worth it to you?
If yes, maybe not 'fine', but good enough.
If no, try and find something else.
    ...
...since we are all here, I think we picked the former one, yes? ;) And put up with "limited time offer" cra... uhm... crowstore opportunities with a sigh and eyeroll... :p;)

Somehow they always manage to put limited time items in the crown store to expire right before I get my crowns from ESO plus. Off to crown purchase store I go...

    Very clever these gypsies...

The whales would buy even if it wasn't limited time only . They're whales , the buy everything first . The good news is nothing here has really been limited time only true . Everything sneaks back in the store at some point an then all the whales are being upset it wasn't true limited item lol . Oh well . Ya know cash shops are always the pain point with ZoS . I just don't get hyped an avoid it . Wait for sales ect .. People go nuts over these things an they are imaginary world things . I suggest buying things only if it's no big deal .

Do you need any of these limited edition items? No.

    So what's the problem then?

Clearly they are making money from this business practice or they wouldn't be doing it. Be happy that it supports the game.

Welcome to modern gaming. Whales spend more money than everyone else combined, they're the single most important source of revenue for games basing their business model on ingame transactions (I refuse to call them microtransactions when we can spend $100+ for one). Companies give us minnows and dolphins only just enough to keep us playing and to attract new customers, because the game needs a healthy playerbase. But we are not the most valued customers and never can be under this model.

Pass. I can understand and even accept it, but I can't be happy about a model that so often ruins the joy of gaming and turns good concepts into hollow shells existing only to monetize, monetize, monetize the hell out of everything.

Not always. It doesn't have to go that far. But I think we all know examples of games where it did.

Not capitolism there..because supply and demand says you make more supplying the demand..if you artificially scarcity it..you may make quick sales but you are not supplying it to everyone who wants it.

In a digital world where scarcity is fake..this is the opposite of capitolism.

Second this. If it supports the game but it turns the game into something I don't want to play, why do I care if the game is supported?

That supports the game so you don't have to pay a subscription.

Actually it is P2w, why does everyone consider P2w being only stattable gear in game, it consists of everything you can get faster than anyone else and if they cannot be able to obtain it game as compared to real $ currency transactions.

It is not about the whales. It is about spurring players to purchase crowns outside of a sale. Much is limited time anyhow. Just some things stay on the store for days and other things for a a few months.

Besides, if one plans ahead, buy crowns on sale, they can get the limited time items they want without issue. Otherwise, pony up.

I don't agree. Buying a house, costume or mount has no effect on character advancement.
It's all cosmetic. It gives you no advantage over those that don't buy them in terms of game play...dungeons, trials, pvp.

And yet you are still here. So I guess you can stand their business practices after all. :)

Here I thought we would see actual reasons. The reason I don't like it is because most of the times when something is on limited sale that I want, I don't have the money budgeted at that time, and being paid every two weeks, when it comes to pay day, the "sale" is gone and over. Maybe if this "limited" time was for two weeks or better a month it would be better.

But like other companies, especially stores that offer "sales" rely on people to buy impulsively. It's called impulse buying. Why you have to call people names just because they don't agree with you, just shows your character. After all if you don't agree or stand the business practices, why still support the game buy playing or at least support the game by being on the forums.

This is more of a "you" issue than a Zenimax issue here sadly.
Not my quote but I love this saying

"I would pay It for support. But since they choosed we are just numbers and not customers, i dont mind if game and zos goes to oblivion"

They are compla8ning about limited time availability not microtransactions.

They want more than 3 or 4 days to buy it.

For all you defenders of blatant greed and predatory practises, yeah, it's as if gaming companies didn't earn any money before the era of microtransactions and "games as service". And we all know that the only way to earn money is by taking advantage of someone else, right? I mean, it's not as if Amazon earns any money by providing customers with cheap and easy products without resorting to exploitative schemes *rollseyes*

That a company that has limited time sales gimmicks and crown crates is one of the best (and I don't disagree) tells you everything you need to know about what has become of mainstream gaming.

Gameplay is the way players interact with the game. It isn't synonymous with combat. It is also crafting, housing, fishing, story choices, cooperation with other players and yes, customizing your character's appearance. All these aspects come together to form an immersive MMO - if combat was the only thing that mattered, we'd all be playing a MOBA or some corridor shooter instead.

But we aren't. We're here. Not because the combat is the best ever, but because we like the world, the people in it and the multifaceted experiences we can have. Some people play to top trial leaderboards, some to become emperor, others to become filthy rich traders or to stand around in Orsinium for hours and roleplay with their friends. There is more than one way to "win" at this game.
