My first toon is now my crafter.

Also, are we really still hung up on magic sorcs? Exactly what are the best at anymore? The only arguments for magic sorc being OP is that they are perhaps the easiest class to pull reasonable DPS at end game. The are not the best ranged DPS, they certainly arent the best stam DPS, and they dont make the best tanks or healers. In PVP, they are certainly strong in the right hands, but that is true of any class. Shield stacking does not mitigate against multiple targets nearly as well as it used to, so other than perhaps ranged burst, they really arent first in anything. End of rant.

They're the best at bot trains

for real, sorcs are definitely powerful (and I admit that having a bunch of people on my death recap, but the final blow is just some guy spamming Mages Wrath is annoying as hell), but they're nowhere near as imbalanced as Homestead. I gotta practice with mine again, it's a fun class.

    @rhapsodious
Yeah, the KB count definitely gets padded a bit on sorc, no question. But good sorcs dont just spam mages wrath. They line up burst damage between shields, which does actually take skill. Dont get me wrong. If I see a bunch of pugs about to wipe to a zerg train, I am certainly spamming wrath from the sidelines, but they were probably dead anyway. My favorite is probably when I get curse and wrath off on a clock-spamming NB right before they vansish. Like 3 seconds later there is a big explosion out of nowehere. The curse brings them out of cloak, and the wrath puts them in the ground. haha

Right, didn't mean to imply that all sorcs do is shield stack and spam MW. Just it's more noticeable, like how you only notice the successful ganks. You do you my man. :)

I've been playing RPGs for about 25 years now, so I've got a pretty good idea of what I enjoy. When I get a new game it's just a matter of understanding how my preferences map onto the options given. I will usually make and delete a lot of characters early on to work it out, but in ESO I did that during the betas (was going to go Nightblade originally, settled on Templar instead as the closest fit for my usual TES characters.)

I've also never been one to care about 'meta'/flavour of the month builds or min-maxing so what I like to play isn't going to change based on what other people tell me is good right now. I just stick with whatever is the most fun for me.

My first character is my master crafter and the only one I care about achievement points and doing ALL THE THINGS with. No matter if I go spend some time with another character for a while, I always end up back on that first character working on something else...

The game's not alt-friendly enough for a casual player to focus on more than one character. I've been subbed non-stop since launch and I am now 7 feedings away from finally maxing my main's mount and just today finally maxed a third craft on my main and advanced her a bit further into Auridon's quests as she began in Ebonheart and completed that. (Sadly, before Homestead I had split crafts up, so my main has maybe 3 things researched in Clothier despite being max, whereas my original Clothier sorcerer has almost all the non-Nirnhorn traits researched but is only skill 20-30ish). My handful of alts barely even have 10% speed.

It helps that I really like my Redguard DK in looks and in RP backstory. I immerse in the game better on her than on my other characters, most of whom barely have personality kernels set up. It also helps that a single character has immense flexibility in build and role.

But really, as I only occasionally play, I can't possibly put in the time to raise a second character to anything like the amount of completion done thus far on my Redguard. In my other game I have over 20 max level alts and all the elite specializations unlocked, and each one took far less time to do than anything in ESO.

I rolled a mag sorc first, so of course
Wow, way to totally leave bias out of your poll!

Magsorc really isn't that OP in PvP or PvE. Magsorc had about 2 patches where it was king of PvE dps, and in PvP it's most deadly against total noobs and happens to steal a bunch of killing blows in Xv1.

It can be argued as one of the easiest classes to pick up and do decently on, but its maximum potential is middle of the road at best compared to other classes.
PC/NA - Nightfighters, Raid Leader and Officer
Lilith Arujo - DC sorc tank/dps/healer - Dro-m'Athra Destroyer, Gryphon Heart, Grand Warlord

My first character was actually an Altmer nightblade (meant to be an ancestor of the Skyrim character I was running at the time). I deleted her shortly after launch because I filled the character slots with names I liked more. After buying Imperial Edition, I played an Imperial Templar to lvl 36, and he still sits at that level (the combo was good at the time).

My first real main (first to Veteran Rank), however, was a Dunmer DK (Valkyn Skoria+Dunmer+magknight equalled op). I didn't really like the close-range DK playstyle, so I decided to give the finger to the meta and main a Dunmer magblade. I absolutely loved it, but I realized that my DPS was lacking, and then ZOS began to nerf magblades over and over again. My class was broken, so I rolled a Dunmer magsorc which I still main. My DK is now my crafter and my magblade is... well, still useless (granted his build hasn't been touched since Dark Brotherhood). He looks a bit edgy though, so that's something.

I thankfully did not roll a mag sorc for my first toon. That was my second and she got deleted very quickly. No, my first was my khajiit stamblade and even though i made every mistake one could make with a nightblade, and go so frustrated so many times that I gave up on her once or twice, I never could quit and her and now she's my main pve toon, main dps, main crafter, main achieve toon, main main.
PC-NA since 2015. Tired and unimpressed.
