I ran only one dungeon during the entire event. I simply do not have the time to run a dungeon with pugs and receive garbage due to the absurdly low drop rates. These special events should encourage people to participate and enjoy the game. Instead, it angered plenty of people and sent others running away from the event. I don’t know how this event could be considered anything but disappointing.

11 chars, 1 mount (imperial war horse), 1 pet (imperial dog), 1 costume (blacksmith), a bunch of blueprints and a lot of random items. Not to bad as a result. Was fun running random dungeons all day.

More often than not, I used every character on my main account and some on my second account if a filler was needed. I lost count how many randoms I did, and in the end, I only got the Blacksmith costume. Otherwise, the majority of it was useless dye stamps, mimic stones, and tripots.

If the drop rate is going to be this poor in future events, I'm most likely not going to participate. This wound up feeling like a massive waste of time to me and was nothing but frustrating.

1 pet, one dye stamp, one purple design pattern. The rest Mimic stones, crown pots, plunder, and undaunted keys. Could be worse I guess. I opened 15 boxes I believe.

With my zero luck from 37 crown crates, I feel RNG isn’t on my side lately.

Really wanted treasure hunter, got chef, and on last run, (ugly gross) bulldog pet. The rest was dyestamps (why do these exist?), 1 or 2 ugly facial marking things, undaunted plunder (2 total), keys, and other garbage.

Was doing on 5 chars per day, missed 3 chars 1st day because dumb turnover EU time thing - so whatever that is.

I wonder how many people would just have bought the missing costume, war horse, pet etc. with crowns for their collection and how much money zenimax would have earned ?

I've had crowns waiting on my account since last fall, for an opportunity to spend them on the Shaman costume (either directly, or from a crate). They haven't given me a chance to spend them.

(of course, if you think about it.... they already have your money once you buy the crowns. They don't need to give me something to spend them on. On the other hand, if I never spend them, I never need to buy any more... ;) )

What if they allowed after such events ablity to purchase items from crown store?

Weren't some of these items originally from the crown store, thus what crates were supposed to offer? Now we know with the upcoming schedule we're not getting them anytime soon and even if so it would seem based on the returning crates we couldn't use gems to purchase them...so, if they brought them back it better be to be able to straight up purchase them as they were originally offered in the store for. I'd like the smith outfit but im not gonna crate for it.

Seven characters + 4 days = No mount, no costume, no pet. Got one green clockwork recipe that isn't worth anything now.

I went into this with very low expectations, I figured I'd get mostly crown store versions of "junk" - i.e. repair kits, crown meals, potions. I assumed the "good stuff" would be very rare and that would have been fine. This was based on the original, unedited version of the announcement.

What I didn't expect was getting a ton of stuff I can get in game on any random day. I don't spend a few hours in dungeons to get treasure maps I can buy in one minute at any guild trader for next to nothing, a white pattern available at the npc merchants, or for crying out loud a lockpick! As for the "it's free, you got something for doing nothing" argument - we didn't have to "do nothing". To do nothing would have been to log in every day and get a mystery box in our mail.

My positive take on this event was that I managed to talk a few good guildies into coming back to the game to do it and had several really fun nights running with them again.

An event such as this should not leave players feeling this way. They call it a celebration but all I have seen is message after message of upset players low drop rates garbage items and disappointment amongst the player group. You would think the people at the Zen would realize this is going to translate into lower player purchases and lower player participation in future events. The drop rate was garbage the loot pool was garbage. The promises were high but they did not deliver. All hype to boost their sales to increase their stock for the shareholders just before Christmas. Wonderful scam they pulled. You would think they would look at the forums and realize how unhappy they have made their player base.

That being said, I did get the pet. Out of my company of 3, I was the only one to get a single more meaningful item. I really wished for any costume though. In the end the event felt dissappointing, as filler items were worse than the Halloween sticks even. Welcome to the world of white lockpicks!
Seriously how many of these did people get? I did 84 of these and has one lockpick, now I know it's RNG but I feel like it might be getting over exaggerated how often these dropped.

Zero lock picks here. Many chest keys, plunders and potions

I was not super impressed with the event, mostly because I got stuck running the same dungeons over and over and over.
    5 characters, 4 days.
Got a skin, 3 costumes, too many dye stamps, a few green recipes, and too many crown repair kits. Like seriously, I am kinda salty about those.... The crow tri-pots I will at least use, and cost more than a a hundred gold to craft...

Seven toons, each run daily. One green praxis; no mounts, nor costumes, pets, or even xp scrolls. Sh!t tonne of dye stamps that, as a subber, are totally useless. Instead of lockpicks, they should have enclosed crown gems (or at very least furn items).

No...earned would have been if it was for sale and you bought it.

thinking you "earn" ANYTHING by participating RNG is the same logic that leads compulsive gamblers to go broke because they just know that the next one and the universe will acknowledge their hopes/delusions/crossed fingers as a command.

Didn't actually count the number of boxes I'd received, but in total it was somewhere between 10 and 15. Part of the issue with maintaining an accurate count is that I was using one character at the start of the event, two in the middle, and three towards the very end. So let's say something on the order of a dozen boxes.

The rewards were five (!) dye stamps, all with different names but looking like roughly equivalent shades of brown (at least in the inventory screen); a couple of maps; one purple recipe page (used on my main crafter); a couple of Undaunted keys; and two Mimic stones (or whatever the name is). There might have been more, but those are the rewards I remember.

Positive - no lock picks! Also, a few skill points here and there from new dungeons, though at one point I was doing something like five consecutive runs of Banished Cells I (random dungeons my foot...).

Not so positive - at least based on my experience, someone didn't think the event through well enough.

Clarification. It takes an average of, say, 20-30 minutes to get a single box (depending on the dungeon, the group, etc.), which means that a "casual" or "casual+" player spending 30-60 minutes a night on average (with some nights off but perhaps a bit more time on the weekend) should pick up somewhere on the order of 15 boxes. By definition, you, the event organizer, either a) structure the rewards to all but ensure at least one "good" prize out of 10-15 drops, and there are many ways to do that either with or besides the RNG; or b) essentially concede that the event is for hardcore players and not casuals, with all the attendant consequences (including not a few disappointed casuals). Instead, ZOS appeared to have done the worst of both worlds, promoted the event to everyone but dropped in a "standard" loot table ensuring that only a portion of the player base got a "real" reward for participating.

Elsewhere I've also commented on how the timing seemed just so very off, between major holidays and school closings in the US.

So on the whole, I wouldn't complain about the event as being bad. I just know precisely the kind of face I'd be making - when no-one was looking, naturally - were I to have sat in on the internal meetings greenlighting this event in the form we ultimately experienced.

in total i got the dark shaman outfit, a purple, blue and green clockwork housing plan and... no thats about it, rest was filler treasure maps, mimic stones (which i have plenty of already), crown potions (lame), transmutation stones in the 1's (insult to injury much?) and a total of 2 exp scrolls... not even the best ones... and lame as hell dye packs

overall i think they just wanted to amp up numbers during this bracket so they could say "we have a very active player base" but gave out goodies as bribes... problem with bribes is you dont gamble on which bribe we get. try that at a casino door.

all the whiners think the event sucked because 'i didnt get the RANDOM reward i wanted so it was crap'
everyone else had fun because 'i enjoyed doing a dungeon and got extra goodies at the end'

all those people in the first group should just leave because they are incapable of enjoying the game. the only issue here is players attitudes and expectations were at fault and they blame zos for their own issues.

This, and that was the downside of event, you put up items who is in high demand and impossible to get elsethere. Now give them low drop chance and be non trade able so lots got plenty of items but not that they want.
Some else say the drop rate should be swapped, make the costumes pretty easy to get, 8-15% drop chance, the purple and blue CWC blueprints should be the rare reward to keep players grinding.
And not selling them in store for limited time for inflated prices afterward, that would resolved most of the issue and earned zos some money on top.

I honestly wonder that the strategy for ESO monetarisation is?
First you have stuff people would want to buy but they can not because of some reason.
Extra furniture slots, extra character slots yes its about changing an setting.
Then you have old retired items like from this event, and no they don't show up in crown crates in good enough numbers.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Its definitely over exaggerated and has become the sort of symbol of peoples frustration with this event. Im not sure it needs to be a sticking point for calling people out on it though. Because regardless if it was a lockpick or a treasure map. No one went into this event wanting or aiming for either of them. And while its a reality that theres going to be filler in these events to prolong the players participation. When people are gated so harshly during an event like this. These sort of fillers, and the extent that the fillers drop compared to what people are aiming for. Its something worthy of bringing up and expressing to ZOS that its not something we as consumers/customers appreciate.

So yes, its usage is making it seem like its happened way more than it actually has. But it doesnt matter because the lockpick is just a placeholder in the conversation for anything and everything that people got that wasnt the items they really participated for.
