There seem to be a few options for a tempory protective buff for Templar. Which is best?

When party members fall in battle am I expected to rez them? It seems for the most part when something is going way wrong I'm far too busy healing to be able to stop and rez fallen group members.

For healers and most tanks, channeled focus is the morph you want, restoring focus is for Stam users and some tanks that feel that they need more protection. Channeled focus gives you 480 regen for 26 seconds. Really useful.

DPS resses, unless you have kagrenacs hope on, the you can res so much faster then they can it doesn't make sense for you not to.

This, basically. However, majority of the PUG world believes that it's the healer's job to res and will more often than not outright refuse to res.

So if you PUG a lot, I'd recommend getting a set of Kag's so that you can just be prepared to res by default. IIRC, having both the Templar passive and Kag's will bring your res time from the base 10 seconds down to about 6 (was it 6.4?) seconds, which is a significant amount.
    Kiss the chaos.

Highly depends on the situations. Generally the dps should res. But sometimes the dps may be both dead or too busy following necessary mechanics to be able to do that and then it's better for a healer to res than for no one. Of course it's better not to do that during damage intensive phases. Drop Channeled Focus, use Annulment and off you go. Templars already get faster ressing and there's a cp passive that gives you a shield while ressing too.

I really don't like it when healers just stand there when they can res and save the day because "healers don't res". That's just not true. If only 2 people are alive and one of them is kiting the boss like crazy and you're the other one, then for the love of the Eight don't just stand there waiting to heal if needed, RES.

I've been in the situation where as the DPS, i'm too busy kiting the boss while my tank decided to spam LA with his bow.... It got to the point where I told him to just do that and I'll Tank... he had 36k health and I had 17k health. I think as tank I still did more DPS than he did, but at the very least, we completed the dungeon faster with fewer deaths
