Im not a Dungeon or Trial kind of player. I keep to myself and I do the content I want and like when I want. When I do run content like Dungeons and Trials I prefer it to be much more relaxed and less stressful. Which this event has not been. And I feel it would of been less so if it didnt feel as if so much was on the line during this small event. Especially with so much garbage and trash drops in the loot table.
Going into this event the two things I wanted the most was the Blacksmith Costume, because it was never released on Console, and the Imperial War Horse, as its something Ive been hoping for since the day they dropped the Alliance War Horse. And its been stressing me out since the beginning of the event. Which is something I should not be experiencing in a video game that I play casually and with the intent of unwinding after a long day at work.
I got the Blacksmith Costume on day two of the event and was quite happy with it. But the Imperial War Horse seemed out of reach as day after day the event went by. Theres no indication if this War Horse is an event exclusive or a future Crown Store item theyre hyping up with a giveaway (especially now that we know the blog was misleading). So the pressure is on for anyone attempting to go after it. I ran the usual 4 characters I like to use for these sort of events through the dungeons tonight with nothing but treasure maps and undaunted keys to show for it. By the fourth character I had nothing but the usual trash drops and a sinking feeling that this was it. But I decided to pull out my magblade, which Im always nervous about doing group content with, and did a run through Volenfell. I finally got it. But I dont feel relief or happiness. I feel as if Ive spent a week stressing over a video game that normally I get enjoyment out of.
And thats the issue I have with this whole event. Instead of being something that not only ZOS could get some good data from. But the player base, utilizing something that is likely used by a very small minority, walk away with some interesting and satisfying loot and rewards. But how many players are going to go to sleep tonight after their last run and feel like they wasted a lot of their time chasing something they never got? How many players are going to feel burned after this?
ZOS,
I get that you dont want players receiving the best rewards on the first few runs and then not touch the GF for the rest of the event. But for such a small event lasting only a handful of days. Was it really necessary to overload the loot table with absolute garbage like lockpicks, treasure maps and surveys? You need to put yourselves in the players shoes here. Ask yourselves how satisfied would you be receiving these rewards for hours, days of effort. I appreciate the fact that this is a free event and some of these items are Crown Store items. But as a customer/consumer. Im not sure I can stomach another event with this sort of approach.
