Is there any way to get rid of the armor? That's not what I redeemed crowns for...

    Settings -> Gameplay -> Items -> Hide Mount Upgrade

    The armour comes with upgrading your mounts stamina. It's applied to most mounts once you reach 20 stamina. There are some exceptions which don't change (usually because they've already got armour, like the Alliance mounts).

    As eso_nya said you can hide it via the options menu.

    Yeah, it doesn't go with it at all. I wish it was possible to preview both with and without upgrades.
