Weapon swapping -- why?

Hey, my question is why we have 1 bar for separate weapons instead of just 2 bars and 1 weapon? I play as dps sorcerer and I have to switch weapons every 5 seconds, but both of them are SAME weapons. Why not make it so if you equip same exact weapon into both slots it will just show 2 bars so I can map my spells to different buttons. right now its so annoying always having to make sure I'm in a right action bar if I want to cast spell 1 that is on action bar 1, not spell 1 that is on action bar 2. Ugh maybe I'm just a noob ,but I find it so annoying. Anyone else?

Everybody has to weapon swap ...

You do realize that your suggestion would give people that slot the same weapon type front/back a distinct advantage, yes?

Because that won't work on console and that's what they were shooting for when they made the game.

OK you both made good points, I agree. I totally forgot about console too.. I'm just gonna have to get used to it, its one thing that I don't like about combat, action bar juggling

It helps if you can make them look different, that'll at least give you a visual cue of what bar you are on.

I use an MMO mouse, and tend to keep certain skill types in the same place, across toons, across bars. For example, on my tanks, SW&B taunt is button 1, and undaunted taunt is button 1.

There is also a setting to have your bars always visable so you don't have that mistake... if the two weapons look the same.

Also if you are weapon swaping a lot you might want to rearrange your skills so you have a main bar and a back up bar.

typically your back bar has buffs and damage over time skills you don't have to keep switching back to.

I find it much easier having just 6 keys mapped than trying to find a way to sensibly map 12 and be able to reach them quickly.

Not me. You probably coming from SWTOR? 50-60 abilities in 5 bars. Each bar contains 12 abilites. All bars on screen in same time. And no weapon swapping ;).
If you give it time to get used to ESO keys&swap mechanics you will see how convenient it is :).

Why even have skill bars at all?

Pressing one button should unleash a fury of 6-10 skills/attacks.

Have you discovered light and heavy weaving yet? Animation cancelling? Game's combat is garbage near end game. Everything you think is fun turns to monotony and it doesn't matter what class you choose. Console is definitely to blame, but people don't like to admit it. Just treat the game as a story only adventure or be let down.

I have same issue, combined with 300-600 ping normally, so i gave up on the second bar and just make do with my first bar. i consider myself lucky if the spells manage to fire the moment i fire them, and not with a few seconds delay. bar swapping is just a hopeless dream for this poor bosmer lol

Artificial limitation that doesn't let you be too OP. Even 1 extra skill on a skillbar would be OP as all hell in this game. Multiple bars only work in games where you are controlled with skill cooldowns. In this game there are no cooldowns but your limit is only having 5 (+1) active skills at the time forcing you to choose wisely between your offensive and defensive loadouts, but without the ability to have all at once.

That and consoles... They can't manage more than that with their 3 buttons...

Meh, i dont buy the console limitation reasoning. You can easily have both bars active. Remap break free to the useless quest toggle pad button then holding down both triggers highlights the second bar for immediate use.

Regardless, that being said, bar swapping occupies the same space as all defensive actions which are odf the gcd so it would serve little purpose. Despite what many inexperienced or uneducated players might try to preach, "bar swap cancelling" isnt really even doing anything for you in relation to ability use frequency.

You get bonuses and passives for have some abilities slotted. It would be way to OP to have 10 of those on one bar.
Played for about 2 years on Xbox and did everything you can do (-emp).
    Still pretty new to PC-NA.

There’s no reason why that couldn’t work for console.....

I play ESO on PS4; could very easily have this as an option. But the only REAL limitation is what someone said earlier, gives a distinct advantage to one weapon classes (typically magicka based almost exclusively)
