Little Things, Big Improvements Wishlist

Name some things in this thread that are at least a minor hindrance in this game that have absolutely no reasons to exist, either due to old mechanics that were scrapped, changes to the game in general, or just outright bad and/or antiquated design in the first place. Make sure to list your console (Xbox/PS4/PC) so in the off-chance developers actually see this thread and address it, they will know where to look for these issues (concerning bugs), and so people can't say "This is solved with add-ons". You can also put in anything that wouldn't be hard or costly for Zenimax to add that would drastically improve the game.

Xbox. My list:
1. Undaunted Keys
It makes absolutely no sense for us to not be able to store these keys in our personal banks. If your characters are all Champion, you're just going to throw everything you get in your bank to keep or for your crafting character to dismantle anyway, and if the character you earn the key on is not yet Champion, the key will give pre-160 gear that's useless except for dismantling, meaning you'll put it in the bank anyway for your crafter to dismantle.

Not being able to store the keys and then open them all on your crafter is just adding a ridiculous amount of meaningless tedium to the process of opening chests. You have to move every single character to the undaunted area, which means at least two load screens depending on where you leave your character and whether you fast-travel directly or travel on foot to a wayshrine (logging onto the character, travelling to the city of your choice where the undaunted are), and then you have to open the chests, then go to the nearest bank and deposit all of the stuff if you even have room for it (don't even get me started on that), then log out of that character and log onto your crafter to deal with the items. And that amount of work is PER CHARACTER. If you were able to put your keys in the bank, you could do so while you're taking care of the rest of your business on that character, build up keys, and then take care of them at your leisure with your crafter in a fraction of the time. Add to that all of the mercenary motifs you get too, and unless you throw them all into a guild bank, your inventory starts looking like a purple disaster area.

You can store key fragments from the sewers in your personal bank to use with any character, so why are Undaunted Keys ineligible?
2. Deconstruction Interface Currently Broken (Minor)
I don't know how or even when exactly this got messed up, but the deconstruction interface is now jumbling all of the items in the list with seemingly no rhyme or reason every single time you deconstruct something. I am constantly going to the tables to do a round of deconstruction, and then on top of it taking much longer than it used to due to all the jumbling, leaving and finding out at some point later that I missed multiple items because they developed sentience and the will to live and kept jumping around and hiding in new places on the list. I shouldn't be having to play Where's Waldo with my items like this.
3. Riding Training
Let's be real, nobody in their right mind buys Riding Training. Zenimax needs to swallow their greed trying to push these things and allow riding training to be account-wide. If anything, this would actually INCREASE the value of riding training in the crown store, because instead of it only working on one character, it would work on all characters you have and make in the future, which would certainly be much more tempting to me if I needed it and had the disposable income. It's just horrendously annoying to have to go through all of the riding training again on every character you make. It's one of MANY active discouragements. At the very least, if Zenimax won't do this, at LEAST make the training have no clock if you've already completed it once on one character, so you can just get it done with your gold the 4th+ time around.
4. Auto-Sell Item categories
I'd really love the option to sell all items automatically to a merchant within certain specifications. For example, all white armor and weapons, all glyphs, or all alchemy ingredients. This would save at least a couple minutes on each trip to a merchant, which would add up to hours of time saved very quickly.
5. Bank Sorting: Searchbar Needed Badly
Putting it mildly, the bank interface is atrocious. Instead of grouping weapons and armor by the set they belong to (such as Julianos), it groups them all by which piece of armor it is inside categories, and all of the categories aren't even grouped together in the interface. This means if you want to check how many piece of a certain set you have, which pieces they are, and whether they're optimized yet or not, you have to either keep a list outside the game for reference or jump around your bank vault looking at all of the different categories and trying to mentally keep track. If Zenimax is unwilling to change the way the bank interface groups items, they should at least give us some kind of search text field, so if we wanted to look at all of our Burning Spellweave items, we could type the set into the search bar and show only those items.
6. Guild Store Interface (Crafting Items)
The guild store currently has no way to filter motif, recipe, and blueprint pages that you have already learned. This is a MAJOR inconvenience, especially since the list of things no longer relevant to the searcher only grows with each new content patch. If we (again) can't get a revision/addition to the interface, we need a searchbar here so we can look for only certain motifs.
7. Character stat pages
If you've ever looked at your character's stat sheet, you will probably have realized that the main page showing your stats has a HUGE (literally half the screen, vertically and horizontally) blank area that could be showing more information. Some of the things I think would be nice to have there are (I am gong to order them vertically in the order I think they would go best, and would go underneath the main batch of stats):

Everything the list on the left side of the screen is currently being used for (Attribute points, active effects, title)
Everything inside the Character Description field
Highest DPS on Target Skeleton
Dungeons/Trials Uncleared: Normal/Veteran
Coffer-Timer Tracker (This would be a godsend): All trial coffers and quests that give Coffers
Daily Reset Tracker (For planning purposes)

They can easily make room for all this by expanding the main window into the left and removing the one on the left entirely.

I would not want them to store keys in bank we don’t need people in low lvl pvp rocking these shoulders. People already go way to try hard with stats in that zone.

Yes, keys should be bankable though as you stated it's a small thing. I ususalku decon on one character so have to sort the trash, bank it and move it.

Riding lessons are purchased. Regardless if you think the players that do are sane or not is irrelevant. We know they are purchased since Zos has not changed the price.

For all storage we need significantly better interfaces. From day one it's an area that has had a high school intern level design and has been neglected since.

I agree the character stat sheet is light. Needs all relevant stats and take into account all sources. One stat that's missing is out critical modifier. However, if really doesn't need stuff like our best test dummy parse since which dummy was it on, solo or group and is it even relevant after the last patch.

Zos could handle tracking trial coffers by providing a fixed reset time/day probably starting when the next weekly trial starts.

I wish we could zoom in on our character when in the collection menu. All the better to see how the accessories / facial hair sets look without having to lean into the screen.

    Champion Point Display Overhaul:

Right now, most champion stars work off a kind of "jump point" system, where it will bounce from one full percentage point to the next. The values presented after a decimal point don't (appear to) matter. This is, apparently, to deal with issues in the backend.

    Suggestion:

Change the CP interface, so that instead of displaying a non-functioning decimal, the screen indicates the actual modifier, and shows the player how many more points they need to spend in that star to increase its bonus. For example, "+5% Direct Damage (spend 4 points to advance)." With that number modified in real time as you spend points.

    Riding Training:

Honestly, instead of training one stat at a time, giving the horses +1 to all three stats simultaneously, reducing the total training time from 6 months to 60 days, or even allowing three simultaneous training sessions on each mount, might be a reasonable compromise.

For reference: I only have two non-maxed mounts, both of those are within a month of completing, so I really don't have much of a horse in this race. But, it should probably be a bit less harsh for players.

They need to fix this stuff jumping around in the decon list. It's so annoying.

I usually lock everything I don't intend to break down or sell immediately. Even stuff bound for the guild store in a couple hours. It helps avoid those horrible decon regrets.

While yes on your CP suggestion, it would add more confusion or require additional changing information to prevent confusion. Placing points into something and not seeing anything change in that section would be more confusing than how rounding works with CP.

I mean while IN the menu. We get a zoom while in the crown store. Why can't we get it on the collections menu as well.

Re: riding training. Disagree with the OP from this perspective. One, if crown store riding training didn't make them any money, they wouldn't list it for sale. Two, keeping riding character-bound rather than account-bound makes them more money - even if a little - so why change it? For user convenience? Tcha, I say. [There might also be a technical issue in moving something from character-level to account-level, by the way, though not likely an insurmountable one.]

I would like to see them do is realize that only riding speed matters (stamina is infinite so long as you hold down "sprint", capacity...really? riding capacity?). Get rid of the other two categories, get rid of the mount stamina bar, and just streamline the whole experience (especially for newbies who might waste gold/days/crowns training mount stamina for no good reason).

Completely agree on the stupid bouncing items in the Decon screen. Dynamically resorting the list is fine so long as the sorting actually makes sense and fits into some sort of a pattern. As is, it looks like a thoroughly drunken (and naughty) librarian rearranging the card catalogue every five minutes, just because (and yes, I still recall the days of card catalogues in libraries).

    Rant mode: engaged.

One thing - aside from a, shall we say, less than convenient UI in general - that absolutely annoys me is that they tried to go for an auction system that binds items to specific locations (guild stores), but completely and utterly destroyed the interface. Search by item name? Pshaw! [Though all right, suppose there are console issues there.] Search remotely without having to physically port to the location? Pah-lease! Search multiple guilds on one screen to compare items across sellers? Ha!

Honestly, if you are going to try and port parts of EVE's trading system instead of just doing a standard auction house like...every...single...major...MMO...then fine, port them, but port the good ones that actually make it work.

I'm not even going to touch the "not letting players sell without guild membership", although that is its own shade of imbecility.

I recognize they - likely - wanted to a) distinguish themselves from other MMOs, b) build something to work on both console and PCs, and c) go for an authentic "faux-Medieval" look (you actually have to visit Ye Olde Shoppe to see what's on sale! also, guild monopoly on trading!). But for the sake of all that is unholy and evil, bloody LOTRO has a fully functioning auction house with a reasonable (as of a couple of years ago) looking interface, because at some point player convenience trumps suspension of disbelief. [Otherwise why aren't PCs forced to regularly eat, drink and sleep, in-game? I mean, that's realism, isn't it? Having to stow your horse at the stables rather than summoning it anywhere in town - that's realism too, isn't it? Et cetera.] And building a functioning auction house screen that console players can use (i.e. joystick in lieu of mouse) shouldn't be that difficult a proposition.

If other MMOs hadn't existed...fine, but they do, and by comparison this is just mindbogglingly stupid.

So that would be the one UI thing I'd want them to overhaul first, but it is highly unlikely to happen in the near or medium term as we're talking going back on whatever design documents had been put into place at the game's outset.

    Rant mode: disengaged.

Even a small step like that would be less confusing than the current system, where you can spend points, appear to gain bonuses, and not actually gain any real bonuses.

It should be a concern. Low level PvP is the only place new players can PvP on a level playing field. We shouldn't be turning off potential PvP'ers by giving low level PvP lifers proc sets not available to newbies.

I 100% agree with your #2 in the OP though. I once went to improve an item I believed to be in my bank, but couldn't find it. Then I thought I must've left it on a different character, search all 9 of my other characters, no luck. Started wondering if I had sold to vendor or something, nope. About a half an hour wasted before I checked my bank.... WTF!!! It's in there!!!

I agree with Point number two 100%

Deconstructing is a terrible choir now. After you deconstruct all of the inspiration items all of the items change in order every time you deconstruct one item. It is way easier to deconstruct something you did not want to deconstruct if you are not paying attention.

    The interface is now terrible.

Overall Console would would welcome search bars in banks/guild stores. The ability to filter items period.
