Every time I finally start saving some gold, the cyrodiil golden merchant will supply gold jewelry for a set I plan to use, meaning I have to drop 500k+ on the spot to get it or lose my chance to have it for months.
So aside from the one time I piled together enough gold to buy the manor outside Riften, I have never had more than 600k gold on me. I could easily get more by selling my gold crafting mats, but....I kinda need those.

I play the "Tamriel Merchant" minigame, at least as long as they allow such things to be played. This means I am usually making more gold than I need to spend.
I was always poor in ESO, that was until half a year after I returned and the anniversary event happened.
After I had sold the loot filled the bank with I had more than two millions.
Well past 3 now, not doing much for it but also not using much money either.
Buying gear is probably main use.
Just hit 12 million this weekend. I told my self at 10M I would buy all the motifs I don't know. Told myself the same at 11M. I decided not to lie to myself at 12M....
Progess.... but what happens when transmog becomes an reality?
I never have gold for long.
I make good money with sales and am kinda lucky at it at times. When I do get a good stash, 500k+, I will......
1. Give it to my Guilds in donations. I have 2 trade guilds plus our guild has a trader.None have required dues and fees, so donations are needed. In our guild, I have donated probably 2mill in a couple months...
2. Buy Motifs~As ZoS has made it hell on us completionists and crafters to keep up with ALL the motifs, buying them is the only recourse.
3. Luxery Vendor Items~ I never have room to put them up, (Hint Hint ZoS), but I do grab them each week and save them for the day we get more housing slots and /or guild halls.
5. Master Writs~ I use my master writs and donated writs for getting the crafting tables for our Guild Hall, so if we are REAL close to having enough vouchers for the next one, I will buy writs to get those vouchers.
TL;DR~ I can start day with over 500k and have 2k at end of day... Give it away mostly.... Huzzah!!!!

“When the people that can make the company more successful are sales and marketing people, they end up running the companies. The product people get driven out of the decision making forums, and the companies forget what it means to make great products.”
There's not a lot I want right now that I could spend gold on. Most things I need I already have in multitude or need to farm myself, and I can craft anything I might need except for some furnishings, so my gold just ends up collecting in the bank. I buy raffle tickets from my guilds when I remember to. I'll go on spending sprees sometimes just to spend some of ridiculous amount of gold I have, but I stop once the inventory management gets too nuts (or my inbox too full with purchased items I have no immediate use for). I bought all the horses I could buy with gold. I have more houses than I know what to do with. Then ZOS goes and make things like houses I'd happily buy for gold, like the island, the cavern or the CWC place, Crowns-only purchases so I can't spend my gold on those things. I swear one day I might announce in zone chat I'm giving 50k to the first 20 persons to x up in chat, just for kicks.
But really i just don't do much in-game that requires to me to spend my gold, and at the same time I do fairly well at earning it. So I has the goldz and they just sit there in mah banky.
Very little to be honest outside of gear repairs. I do not make a ton of gold nor do I spend very much since i almost never use the traders (to sell or buy). Gold slowly accumulates over time.
PS probably single biggest gold expense for me is training horses and buying bag space for alts
a lot of it went to motifs. now its being spent on upgrading armor and weapons to min max for trials. almost done perfecting it all, so im very happy its finally coming to a close
will just be saving my cash for the new motifs, specifically buoyant armiger, if the golden vendor ever brings useful jewelry like sunderflame, and maybe anything nice from the golden furnisher
Once I go a couple of millions above my self imposed limit I hit guild stores and buy up whatever motif pages and furnishing plans I'm missing if I can find them at decent prices - at or below MM average.

You must be superhuman to manage that much and daily IRL activities like work and leisure. I come home from work so tired some days I can barely manage 3 hours
