Just curious, do you have good and bad toons? Are all of them good? Or all of them bad? When I say bad, I mean killing, stealing and picking the 'evil' quest options for better rewards, joining the Dark brotherhood, thieves guild and such.

Depends on the definiton of good and evil. Let's look at those quests where you catch people that have violated the law. Which one is the good and which one the evil option if you can choose between killing them and letting them run away unharmed?

Some are what you would consider evil. But most all of mine are shades of grey. Some may not be outright murderers but stealing isn't outside of their moral code.

Yeah, mostly good characters but I have a few bad
I TRY to have some good characters and some bad one.

The problems is that ZOS doesn't cooperate. Not that I mind a little moral complexity, a little grey-area, a little having to choose between a wrong and a worse wrong. That's good storytelling.

What I don't appreciate is all the stealth missions they keep putting in that force our heroic characters into situations where they have to sneak in areas that have BLIND CORNERS with NPCs right around the corner, forcing us into a fight for our lives if we can't find the "hiding place." Or, even worse, holiday events that can't be completed without committing a crime and are bugged in such a way that you will inevitably get caught and have to defend yourself.

All of my heroic characters have a few murders in their history, and I frankly find that to be an inexcusably bad design decision.

Not that I would mind it at all if it were scripted, if it were a story point that had actual story consequences. But it's not; you just get put into a position where casual slaughter of innocents is unavoidable and caries no real consequences. I don't mind my evil characters murdering casually, but it should never be casual for my heroes.

Maybe I'm overreacting here, but for a team whose writing and storytelling skills are this good to let encounters this sloppy and bad get through really disappoints me.

that's one thing I think this game really missed out on is allowing for players to make decisions that are evil in quests and have that effect outcome. This game needs evil faction aligned, something that sets your evil character apart from the rest.

I don't have TOONS. I have CHARACTERS. Seriously, the use of the word toon for characters in this game is highly annoying to me. This is not Toontown.

For all of my characters, I don't RP any morals on them, I just follow my own. As I have some very Draconian views, they typically execute everyone that has caused wanton destruction, willingly or not, or people that are simply extremely unpleasant and/or have shown a distinct lack of morals or care for others.

Yeah, mostly bad characters but I have a few good
While the two terms are wildly subjective, my characters are mostly "bad" by contemporary western standards, although I do have "good" characters. I find the former much more interesting to play as I enjoy challenging my own morals and views while exploring darker themes and systems of thought.
    With cold regards,

    This, especially the bolded part.

It means, for example, that my holy paladin type templar simply cannot embark on a good many holiday and Morrowind quests. I have no problem with the Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood being represented in quests outside their zones, I just wish there was always an alternative option in the quests that allowed them to be completed without trespassing, stealing, or murdering.

Yeah, mostly good characters but I have a few bad
The "bad" feels a lot more natural (or inevitable) on a vampire nightmage than on a templar, for me. Those are my two extremes. The mage likes books and does whatever is expedient, which in this game is also usually on the evil side. [Although she didn't throw Valaste under the bus, because fu Uncle Sheo.] Warden is basically templar, temperament-wise.

None of my characters have done the Dark Brotherhood. Just not interested, so easy decision. All of them are thieves to some extent.

most of my characters are on a grey spectrum. sometimes good, sometimes even, sometimes something in between. depends on a situation and their individual personalities. if anything, its much easier for me to split them up by lawful/neutral/chaotic.

Funny thing. Toontown rewritten is available to play, so it did come back.

As to the term toon. It was being used before Toontown came out. I can't remember what game was playing when I was told that our characters were properly called toons. Coming from pen and paper it made some sense as video game characters have little to no depth compared to what people do with pen and paper characters. I never did really like the term but I still often use it in place of character.

My toons have their own personal moral compass. From that perspective they are all good guys. From my perspective, not so much.

My main is kind of evil but then I have a Templar I use only for questing and she always takes decisions depending on what is good or bad. I created her this way just so I could see what happened when the other option was selected, because my main always chooses the evil path lol

Good and Evil are relative, just like how Daedra can be "Good" or "Evil". It mostly depends on their demeanor. Do they have beneficial intent, or detrimental? Do their actions cause a positive, or a negative.

My Characters tread the path of Beneficial Neutrality. They don't actively seek out a life of righteous devotion, they won't give you a cupcake just because. But they'll rescue you from Reachmen and do you a solid sidequest for some gold and karma points.

My Nightblade however has blood on her hands and Daggers. Thieve's Guild, Dark Brotherhood. She may be fluffy with adorable eyes, but she'll put you to the blade if you get in the way.

Other as in has refused some quests who feel bad. Will not do the quest line for the Argonain lady in Morrowind again to say it simple. Giving the nice male argnian 1000 gold to buy his freedom had been an good option.

Many quests are just you having to select between pest an cholera, like the mane initiation quest in Reaper march.

I haven't really thought about the ratios of good and bad. Some are generally good, and some are... how shall we say...? Morally flexible?

Adding RP into the mix muddies it even more. Never clear cut lines there of always good or always bad within a character.

    A couple examples:

One of my characters is a racist and believes that slavery of the 'lesser races' is correct and just, with the 'strong' race ruling the others how it should be. Yet he will not kill without need. He does not steal. He is no assassin or criminal. He upholds and follows the letter and spirit of the law. Regardless of race and his internal feelings, he will assist someone in need. Is he good? Evil? Neither?

Another of my characters is a member of the Dark Brotherhood. She kills. She steals. She's a werewolf and hunts and prowls the edges of civilization and beyond into deep wilderness. Yet those who she calls friends, she is intensely loyal. She doesn't kill without contract or self defense. She loves her wife deeply and passionately, and their relationship is healthy and free from abuse. She abhors slavery and values freedom. Is she evil? Good? Neither?

Yet one more of my characters is a pacifist. She has no combat skills, and will not fight, even in defense of her life or the lives of others. She would rather sneak around/away from or flee from danger. She has no desire to help others in any heroic sense of the word. She does petty theft to make ends meet and pay for her wanderer's lifestyle, but not enough to be greedy. Is she good? Evil? Neither?
