Game is great, but...

This is my first MMO and it's been a great experience so far. I have a few issues with this game that take away from what could be a near perfect experience. I come mainly from other The Elder Scrolls games and I have to say that this game feels a tiny bit dead. Enemies feel dull and the wild feels dead because I seriously try to avoid every creature and enemy because they feel dull. I'm not asking for better AI, but I think it would be nice if the hostility range on enemies was increased and the timing from where they notice you to where they start to attack you would be a bit more punishing. I find myself able to actually walk past enemies without being punished for it. I think a slight buff to these things that are already in the game would bring a bit of life to the game's open areas and punishing players for walking instead of running past enemies could be a good start. Forget increasing difficulty, I think this is the real issue.

Light attacks also feel extremely weak. I'm not asking for a buff in damage, but for a buff to impact. I hear this from so many players all the time. The meta seems to be about holding click to buffer attacks and activating skills.

Also, this game makes me feel like I need to get to level 50 asap compared to other TES games. I could be level 10 for a whole week in Skyrim, Oblivion, Morrowind, and I would have a very good time just walking around and exploring where I feel like I just can't handle being below level 50 in this game for a minute, but once I grind hard to level 50 I run out of things to do other than trials and PVP (which is not for me). I often find myself lost and done when I reach level 50, but all I did was grind for exp and I'm glad they took a step towards resolving this by locking part 2 of dungeons at later levels. Really helps. I'm not saying we need more EXP boosts because there are enough and it's very good, but there's something about it that doesn't let me enjoy the environment as much as I do with any other TES game. I'm not sure if anyone else feels these things.

The presence of "mobs" that respawn in the same place always after the same time, usually replicated in a group of exact clones, it's what I always hated about MMOs. I reaaaaally don't understand why this has to be a thing. Specially in a MMO like this where you want to explore and quest. Idem for The Secret World.

In top of that, if you are trying to avoid them the will slow you down in every way they can lol, it's so annyoing.

I agree with that first part, cecibergesnrb18_ESO. I really don't like how enemies always spawn in the same place after the same amount of time and with the same exact attributes as the one you killed before it. It makes the open areas feel.. scripted, dead, and systematic (not sure if the correct word). I think it would be cool if we get to see random enemies of the same level as the last one spawn and sometimes you get to see a Daedroth or a Troll spawn in its place. Not sure if that would be too much to ask though.

In overall they should start focusing on core-game, which is honestly bad. This game can be played for free but it offers almost nothing for free player. Without all DLCS the game isn't much and they just focus on DLCS when core-game is broken. The things mentioned above are some examples of that.

TES games, great single player content, but it get so boring, no challange.

just press PAUSE and drink 50 mill healing pots.

U cant play with friends, U dont see any other players running around, and U cant fight other players.

You think so? I really like traditional TES games and ESO, but this one feels a bit different despite being so closely similar. I just cant put my finger on why it is that it make me feel so rushed as opposed to other TES games.

It could be the fact that I play so many tanks and don't feel as tanky as I wish I was, but the level scaling in PVE is not bad so that can't be it. I think it's the fact that in games like Skyrim you can grab useful abilities early on and later upgrades are the same abilities but with stronger effects, so it never feels like you're missing out on the action every 20 levels brings you. Morphs sort of do that, but maybe we need 1 more layer of morphs? I don't know.

This isnt my first MMORPG, and certainly won't be my last, and compared to other games of the genre, ESO feels quite filled. I've been playing since ZOS went b2p, and not once left. Sure, I've taken a break to refuel, but there's always so much to explore in the game.
You say that you're accustomed to exploring the lands of skyrim, oblivion, and morrowind (which it was pretty hard sometimes to level in morrowind or oblivion, so of course you could stay at lvl 10 for a week), but you play this one, grind to level cap and complain that there's nothing to do. You should slow down, stop grinding your characters, and actually explore the lands. I've made and deleted several characters, and I'm still surprised by cool things, bc I don't grind, and I take my time.

My complaint is that I can't for some reason. I don't feel the need to get to level cap in the other TES games, but in this one it just feels like you have to. I think it's the way the useful skills are distributed to only be available at later levels while early skills are almost pointless for all styles, but this is not always true since a DK tank can be very useful very early on. It could be that maybe there needs to be weaker versions of high level skills that later morph into the full skill on top of having the final morphs we have today?
Kinda how you can grab a healing spell in the other TES games, level up, and grab a stronger healing spell with added effects.

This is an MMO, not an Elder Scrolls game. When I let go of that, I started to like ESO.

Be sure you find a guild, follow the economy, add a friend or two and feel the invincibility of having a healer. To a solo player healers are ridiculously luxurious.

Side note: The pause game/drink as many potions as you want exploit in Morrowind was corrected for Oblivion (2006). Even when it was an option, you had to choose to do it. If you felt like it was cheating and didn't do it, then it wasn't an issue.

Yeah, I did that too but there are things that I simply can't ignore and these are a few of those. I didn't like ESo at all at first, but I really like it now. The thing is that there are certain things that are just flat out lesser to other TES games that shouldn't be. Such as the dull feeling of open world.

If you want an elder scrolls game, flee from this game like plague.

"Play how you want" is a lie, and so is anything more than a MMO with the elder scrolls skin. if you do not intend to go anywhere near endgame content in any serious capacity (IE, just play normal dungeons) then the game is fine, I wouldn't worry too much.

Well, when you compare this game, to one such as morrowind where literally every 5 steps in certain areas you'd find a cliff racer, or in oblivion in every part of the wildlife, you'd find a wolf or two, then yeah the game could feel pretty empty.
You can't compare the games, and when you do, each game just gets worse.

I do wish they'd improve the "feel" of light attacks. The way it's always been, especially with DW'ing swords/axes/daggers , feels like I'm just slapping enemies with a flimsy stick.

Im the opposite, ive been playing MMOs for years and I wish the mobs had a 0.1cm aggro range and I could ignore all that crap instead of getting dismounted by archers still shooting my low stamina horse from miles away.

It's funny, but I have the opposite reaction. This game bores me more when I get to max level. I enjoy the ride and leveling characters. I have deleted more characters in this MMO than any other just so I can level up from a different perspective. Every character of every class has been interesting, fun and engaging from level 10 to 49. The only reason I play my max level toons is to keep up with the CP increases.

    My 2 cents.

No, we're on the same page. The game bores me to hell when I get to max level and the journey is often fine until I get to the 30's and up. The leveling just becomes so slow at that point, but it's understandable. My issue is that there's like nothing to help you level up other than a bunch of solo stuff aside from dungeons and PvP, but dungeons become stale after a bit and PvP isn't even that great when you gotta walk for 15 minutes to get to anywhere. I think we need more group queue stuff which we do get if you buy Morrowind, but base game needs one more.
Oh and the solo stuff consists of quests, grinding, dolmens, and a few other things. I put dolmens under solo because you could stand still and still get exp. It's not real group stuff.

I'm a big ES fan and lore freak and no, you don't have to be 50 asap to enjoy the content in ESO.

Something similar used to be the case when the levels were present here and if you played Cyrodiil you overgrew some zones instantly. But now, all NPCs are scaled to the player's level, as in others ES games.

The way I do it, I start with the main quest (Molag bal or faction's starting quests) and then go forward. Now with Morrowind you can start there and explore. Really there's so much to see here and it takes time. If you are those of 'rush everywhere' players, then well...

And oh, stop spamming light attacks here. Abilities are real deal actually and knowing them, their timings and what they do makes the fights challenging and interesting.

P.S. There's a learning curve for Cyrodiil, that can be steep depending on your experience and playing style. When I got here from other ES games I thought I knew much, but in reality I was dead 5secs after I met another enemy player alone. And that was in the BWB campaign full of rookie players.

Well, I just bought a Nintendo Switch Pro controller because I wanted to use it for emulators. I decided to use it on ESO and that rushed feeling I had is suddenly gone. I think it was something in my head telling me that mouse and keyboard is for competition since all I do play is eSports titles and this game. I've been able to enjoy the game at a slower pace since I started using a controller and I've actually been reading dialogue more. That's nuts.
