How do you spend the majority of your time playing in ESO? Group or Solo?

I play solo until I go into a Group Dungeon or Trial, then I am grouped up. Of course if a guildmate needs help, I will group if necessary for that.

The exception is the World Boss Tours my guild does, I run the zone one, another guildmate runs the DLC one. I group for those of course.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Even group content I try to beat solo from time to time. It's not because I avoid people, no, but because I like challenge in games, and solo content of ESO is way too easy. I can only hope that one day it'll be changed by devs.

Mostly solo, and exclusively PvE, although, I try to get a bit more involved with group play, with my guildmates. I expect to do more grouping, after I finish all the alliance story & MQ quests on my chars, and at least some of the DLC's...after that, I'll expect to group more with them...meanwhile, the guild activity is primarily a social thing for me at the moment...

Right now I play mostly in a group but that's because I have one to run with. When I don't have a group I will play solo.

    98% Solo.

The only time I Group, is when my wife jumps on or my brother-in-law signs in. Other than that, I just run around by myself.

And I like it that way. It's quite enough for me to -SEE- other people running around with their characters in game, I have no desire to speak with them or meet them though.

Too bad this is only a portion of the game's population. Even if you put this poll on Reddit and Steam. So only ZOS can disclose the true metrics.

It is always interesting to see actual statistics get released by game companies. Those infographics that Bioware put out about Mass Effect 3, for instance.... the internet was constantly gushing about FemShep, how much better Jennifer Hale's voice work was than Mark Meer's, etc, etc, etc...

...and 80% of the overall playerbase played MaleShep. There were plenty of other interesting stats, but the most interesting thing was seeing how the real stats differed from what the vocal internet crowd tended towards.

Shame it's so rare that we get to see numbers like that. The marketing & PR guys tend to prefer releases like "10 Million Players!*" (* have logged on at one point or another in the last 5 years ;) )

edit: and you know, we see the same thing with DLC/lootboxes/microtransactions. The internet screams and yells about never supporting these things, and meanwhile, the average joe out there in gamerland buys away.

rl responsibilities make it necessarily for me to have to stop playing frequently, sometimes at a moment's notice. If I know I have a stretch of time I can devote then I will try to group, but usually it's too uncertain to risk inconveniencing other people. I don't want to be that guy who joins AA then has to drop group half way through.

I solo, but do a lot of cooperative play at dolmens, world bosses and in delves etc. I don't think I've been in any formal groups in ESO as I don't have any interest in the more formal group aspects like group dungeons and trials etc, or using voicechat. I used to do grouping quite a lot back in the day, but games were less soloable in those days and grouping is less fun these days.

I mostly prefer to do my own thing. Because I am bad at doing what someone else wants to be doing instead of what I want to be doing. And rarely am I on the same page as another person. I have no problem with doing a thing with a bunch of random people (world bosses, PvP stuff, etc) but I do not need to group up with people to do that, and am free to go do something else the moment I decide to without it impacting anyone else. Plus the whole thing with not many people i know play or are online when I am mixed with my social anxiety stuff.

And if that wasn't the case, Zorvan would be here telling you that's not what he's trying to accomplish with this poll. But because your view is in line with his, he won't do that. Proving this is a bias poll and he's looking for a outcome supporting his own view.

I tried saying that, or are you incapable of reading? I got jumped down the throat being called a *** liar.

I made a thread wher eI said the majority of players in this game solo. The groupfanboi brigade jumped in to stomp all over me because "there's no evidence" of that.

So I make a poll, to see what group has the most, solo or group? And *** like you jump right on in to say the same tired ***.

    Who's topic is this?

    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/381562/why-are-you-locking-an-event-behind-forced-grouping/p1

That's your topic, asking if ZOS knows that most players play solo and why they are forcing grouping. YOU LINK THE DUNGEON FINDER EVENT AS A COMPLAINT. You didn't make a post saying most players play solo...for no reason. You're upset because you want the reward, but it's locked behind something you don't want to do, use the group finder tool. It's not clever. It's not anything anyone can't see through. Please.
And through this entire silly mess, I've been saying it's perfectly fine for you to solo. I never said you shouldn't play solo, in fact, I'm the one that keeps saying you have a choice. But that choice means missing out on the reward. It's absolutely correct that 90% of the game is solo, so why do you want to dip your hand in the 10% that you don't like and complain about it...you know other players DO like it, right? Why do you feel the need to complain about it? Why don't you address that? You want everything? That's so greedy that the 10% of the game you don't like, you must make a post about it being forced on you, then make a poll to support your reasoning. Entitled? Re read your post about content being forced upon you.
Why else is this poll here? We all already know 90% of the game is played solo.
Please. Play the victim some more...and stop trying to act like you just made this poll for no reason other than curiosity.

Mostly solo. Mainly because I can't use a mic right now to talk to the group. And because I like to stop to take screenshots; and I feel like that would be an issue for a group in situations like Cyrodiil.

50/50 myself. I'm solo when farming mats, but group for dungeons and some questing. Also, talking on voice chat is not a requirement for me. I'm fine as long as you're able to hear. Also, I'm constantly stopping to loot EVERYTHING. It's always fun when I group up with a "DPS in a rush". They run off to the next fight after the boss while I'm scouring the room for loot.

MMOs have always included a significant proportion of people who go solo at least 90% of the time (excepting those who all but forced grouping, and you know who you are). This goes back to the days of MUDs, at least it does for me.

This is natural. People want the option of multi-player, so they could go PUGs or group with their friends/guildmates when they want, but - for a solid proportion of individuals - not all the time. Sometimes a person just wants to grind quietly for a bit at the end of a workday, or is doing five different things in three different zones, or - in this game - wants to read the stupid quest dialogue rather than run from point A to point B fragging things indiscriminately. At other times, that selfsame person might wish for social interaction, whether friendly banter or active questing/whatever. Real life works like this too, by the way, not too many people want to do everything socially.

I'm not even mentioning MMO/MUD settings that penalize one for being too trusting towards one's fellow human beings. [Here's looking at you, EVE...]

On topic - in this game, most of the time I run solo excepting PUGs for dungeons. If I did PVP, however, or suddenly went the RP way (pray for me...), I'd make it a point to make some social contacts. Other MMOs differ.

I’ve always been a fan of solo’ing, as it allows me to move at my own pace. If I want to thoroughly examine the environment I’m in, or really look into the story at hand. I can do that solo. The same with if I’m trying to do something to do something quickly. Solo play enables me to have that option.

But besides things of that nature, solo play allows me to really get the most out of my character builds. When you are handling pieces of content solo, you have no one to protect you in a sense. You must rely on your own means of: Damage dealing, healing, kiting, and tanking. Ultimately forcing you to better yourself, and learn more about what it is you are capable of. You can’t really get that type of training, when you have others to fall back on. When things get tough, it’s either go big, or go home.

I thought the poll was interesting, so I responded and checked out others’ responses. (I usually group only with my husband, although I occasionally join larger groups for dolmens or PVP or world boss killing). I like to play solo so I can take my time and do my thing without rushing or chasing madly after others.

I used to raid several times a week regularly when I played Lotro, so I’m not opposed to teamwork...I just haven’t devoted the time and energy to raiding in ESO.

Reading thru the thread, I found the various arguments about the poll itself odd. None of these polls prove much of anything about the entire population of ESO players. We’re a tiny, self-selected minority here on the forum.

    Cheers.
