Imo you're better off getting magicka bonuses and boosting your damage and defense. Even with 47k magicka, shields are sometimes inadequate. Stamden combo will shatter Hardened+Harness and cut into your health, and that's if they didn't even bother to time it well. Stamplar tears thru shields like a wet gunny sack. Even on the offensive side you'll find that with massive damage you still need to time combos well.
I couldn't imagine trying to fight some of those ppl with under 40k mag
Even at 45k mag a 38k stack with riposte is stronger tho and it protects the heath pool as well

✭Never used reposte on my sorc, but then I've never really felt like I've needed more defence -especially at the cost of sustain or damage.
I tend to agree with this, obviously it's viable but since sorc has such low burst potential you want to work toward boosting your damage as much as possible. With shields and some points into bastion, generally speaking defense is not such an issue where slotting wizard riposte is an optimal option, but you can if you want. Certainly would be a more advanced form of a 'cancer sorc', but you'll be lacking in burst.i ended up choosing impregnable armor over wizard's riposte...that, plus julianos or spinners...need to switch out current grothdar for mighty chudan...

But by slotting all of those defensive sets, you are missing out on a huge amount of burst potential (shacklebreaker, spinners, etc). And attempting to circumvent needing to stack shields on sorc will provide little benefit, shields take 2 bar spots versus your strategy which involves forfeiting many gear slots. Shields are good because they allow for defense while still being able to build up your offensive capability as much as possible. In all honesty, shields are one of the best overall defenses in PvP, something that one should jump at the opportunity to utilize as opposed to other options.Edited by Betsararie on November 19, 2017 12:00AM0
