✭✭✭✭✭Master chests run off of an entirely different loot RNG system than the lockboxes do. The lockboxes have to be balanced against the fact that they are basically providing money to the players, whereas the master chests are providing gear, much of which has little value.
Or to provide specifics, with the Treasure Hunter passive, master chests provide one random purple piece of set gear and 2 blue gear pieces. If the master lockboxes were comparable, every master lockbox would contain items worth approx. 2000 gold.0 -

So...they are as rare as master chests...and as stated above...slightly more "dangerous". also stated above...PC players don't seem to use them (as I never see anyone opening them but me) so it could bring them back...or you know, remove them to help with lag.0
