What's the reasoning behind the furniture vendor again?

The golden exist to help both people with ungodly bad amounts of rng and full time pvpers.
After some time they also added golden jewelry which likely increase the build variety.

And then we have the luxury vendor who sells recoloured items of existing items, items which are literally the same as existing ones but they cost more gold... and very often very generic items which just makes you wonder why they are not craftable or dropped.

So what's the reasoning except to create some fake golden for pve people? (I'm pretty sure pvpers enjoy housing too...except for the furniture limit)
Sell the stuff in boxes at some point?

    I wouldn't expect any logic in those offers.
    For example what logic is in selling 3 x Orsinium Totems for 20k each at Luxury Vendor, when you can buy these much cheaper in Wrothgar Achievement Furnisher, eg. War Totem for 5k vs exactly the same Honor Totem for 20k gold.

    Well the logic is probably, be a subcriber with access to Orsinium to pay less for the totem :p

    I suspect that the idea behind the weekend luxury furnishing vendor is to:
    • Drum up continuing interest in housing. I've more or less stopped buying houses for decoration, but I'll check the luxury vendor every week and grab items if they look cool and "I might use them someday!" The themed stuff is very effective - all that Morrowind stuff belongs in a Morrowind home, doesn't it? Sometimes I even have to buy houses to store my not-yet-used furnishings.
    • Serve as a gold sink. Housing as a whole is a gold sink that provides nothing in return except for target dummies and the convenience of attunable crafting stations. The luxury vendor is a weekly gold sink that plays on the "limited time only" mentality to get us to buy items at odd prices.

    My reasoning for the difference:
    - You need an achievement
    - You need either Orsinium DLC or ESO+
    => cheaper in game price

    Ah, nervemind =D
