Hireling stories and 2 suggestions

I´d just like to give a round of applause to the people who wrote the storylines for the crafting hirelings. Starting an 'ESO-morning' with these little tales always puts a smile on my face. They feel more real than, well, some ppl Im grouped with >:-) and it´s just a very welcome detail. These people deserve a raise!

P.S: 2 suggestions.

First off it would be nice if the crafting interface defaulted to the highest level (rubedite/corresponding) material, since that´s the one you use for the crafting dailies in the end. Right now it´s always the lowest. It´s a small thing but it would save the very minor annoyance of constantly having to reselect material whenever I do dailies.

Second, it would be nice if you could put a customisable minimum level when searching for PUGs, or make it so that you can shut off being able to be grouped with people who havent finished the normal dungeon. I like to PUG veteran dungeons but it is incredibly frustrating sometimes. I played in probably 15 PUGs on Falkreath when it was a daily, and none finished. High CP isn´t a guarantee for a good player but I´d rather wait 10 minutes longer to be able to actually finish.

And yes I know you can look for guildmates.

So when it comes to dungeons...

    A. ZOS recently redid the level locks on dungeons to more accurately reflect dungeon difficulty. For normal dungeons, all II and DLC dungeons unlock after level 45, the rest unlock progressively. For Veteran Dungeons, DLC dungeons, City of Ash II and Crypt of Hearts II unlock after CP 160. So all of your PUGs for Vet Falkreath, one of the harder dungeons in the game, should have at least CP 160 and access to max level gear.
    B. Beyond the level locks built into the system, Random Dungeons are just that, random in both dungeon choice and quality of group members. If you have requirements beyond the system level locks, I strongly suggest that you put together a pre-made group yourself rather than exclude players based on the number of CP, something you yourself pointed out doesn't actually guarantee experience with a chosen role.

Dungeon Finder is the solution to people who want a random group with which to run a dungeon. Pre-made groups are the solution for people who want specific requirements above and beyond what the group finder will provide.

I actually didn´t know they had redone the requirements, i know before you could get there at lvl 10.

And yes, I am fully aware that random is random. However I think it could be improved upon.

And to clarify - I didnt want low level players to be excluded. I wanted the option to exclude them from MY search. I queue as a tank or a healer and have little problem finding a group fast, however so many people just quit after 2 minutes, or have ZERO idea what they are doing.. it would be nice to have the option to put in SOME kind of safeguard yourself. Right now only thing you can do is put them on ignore which as I understand it means you wont be teamed up with them, but it seems way excessive.

Like I said I like to PUG, I just wish it would be more appetizing and then maybe more people would use it. I dont know how you can get to CP160 and not understand basic mechanics. It might be that some people just paid for a Skyreach carry and Witches festival might not have helped in that respect. Many games I´ve played have been able to group you with players of similar ability, I wish ESO could too.

Unfortunately, excluding lower level players from YOUR search means excluding lower level players. Because everyone has their own reasons for "I just need higher level players just this once!" The only way to not open up the option to exclude lower level players from group finder is to make a pre-made group, where you choose your group members from the people you know. If making a full pre-made group is more than your friends-list or guilds can take, you can always pair with one or two other people who you know can do the job so you can carry most random PUGs that fill the remaining space(s).

Now, if you continue pulling random DPS, you can try to vote-kick them as soon as you see that they have low CP. That's allowed in game and is going to be extremely frustrating for those players, but hey, as long as the other group members go along with you, its allowed. This is one of the reasons why ZOS changed the level locks, because low level players were either getting kicked or finding the content too difficult. Now, if your group doesn't back you up and kick the low CP guy sight unseen, you might have better luck if you wait until a DPS fails at a basic mechanic and then try kicking them. Personally, I've had good luck letting groups wipe to mechanics and then explaining what they did wrong rather than trying to post in detail before the fight. Wiping tends to be a good motivator for respecting the mechanic - though I understand not everyone has the time to do this.

(Note: I don't recommend kicking players from randoms. I also tank or heal random dungeons often, and I'm of the opinion that if you use the random group finder, you should be prepared to work with what you are given unless a player is manifestly unable to fulfill the requirements of their role in that dungeon. If you aren't prepared to work with what is given, you should be making a pre-made group and everyone will experience less frustration all around.)

That´s possible. However if you could only do it when searching for specific dungeons, I think it might work. Really, the ONLY 2 dungeons I dont want to run with *just anyone* is veteran Falkreath / Bloodroot Forge. Even other DLCs are quite possible, it´s just that the difficulty gap is so enormous between normal I dungeons and vet DLC.

Part of this is just frustration on my part. I´ve done lots of runs explaining mechanics in chat / voice to people including the most fun I´ve had in a normal dungeon, doing Bloodroot Forge with friendly people in a PUG who were interested in staying. Took many wipes before we finally managed but it was great.

But running with people who die 10 times at the exact same place, refuse or are unable to even read the chat, and then having to restart 20 times... I would like some kind of exclusion option, if minor. I get it I will not get a ranking system like in Starcraft 2 which adapted and consistently pitted me against players my own skill. Just the ability to not have to stand with 3 dead bodies around me 1 second after the first siege mammoth fire ring thinking "here we go again..."

I really wish the hireling mails were added to Editic Memory (or another tab in the library). There's some amusing, and or interesting, stuff there, that would be really nice to revisit, without having to bounce through an outside wiki.

Get the Lazy Writ Crafter addon. Though, given you can get to the top tier mats with a single flick of the scroll wheel, I'm guessing you're not on PC.

Actually, I just never noticed you could do it with the wheel, thanks.

It'd also be nice if we can see them extend the characters and storyline periodically. What they have together right now is great but once you hit the end you kinda miss logging in to the treat of story time.
