Before when I hit the play button nothing would happen. Before when I tried to launch the application files from inside the program folders it would tell me I didn't have permission.

Then last night (early this morning actually) when I tried again to play the game it started crashing and giving me this same error in your OP. So it seems I was having the same issue as you were.

Anyway - and finally having had enough of the b.s. - I went to my programs and features section to uninstall the program from my computer. Hilariously (though not in a good way) I was told I did not have permission to access some file that would enable me to uninstall the game.

So I uninstalled the game via this mess of a launcher they have (though I'm not sure really how much of an uninstall it really was because many of the game's files and even the launcher icon itself remained on my PC).

I just now completed reinstalling the game through the launcher and hit the play button and now miraculously it is working! So who the hell knows. But anyone who is still having this problem may want to try uninstalling the game through the launcher and then re-installing . That seems to have made a difference with me though who really knows if that was what really fixed it or if I'm not having these same problems tomorrow or earlier. Because I'm not optimistic in that regard.
