PS4 Store Crown Purchases ...

Greetings, ladies and gentlemen.

Browsing through the PS4 Store, I noticed that ESO has crown purchase options that now surpass $100 apiece — you can get 14,000 crowns for $99.99 or even 21,000 crowns for $149.99. Wow. I imagine there must be some customers who take advantage of this, otherwise why would they be offered as purchase options?

IF you really do know that you're going to blow $150 on crowns anyway, then it's a good deal. That's a big if, but it's true for someone and I'm sure they do sell some.

But why they would even if no one did buy them? To alleviate sticker shock. I'm sure they weren't the first, but a long time ago Sears catalog added a high end line to their appliances to make their mid range line seem less expensive. People want to be in the middle. After looking at the $150 price tag, $25 on 3000 crowns doesn't seem like a big deal. And $15 a month on ESO+, including 1500 crowns, seems like nothing.

Here's where I am confused. I am in Canada and the prices in CAD are as follows

21 000 - $199.99
14 000 - $133.49

5500 - $39.99
3000 - $24.99
1500 - $14.99
750 - $7.99

Now do the math.

5500 + 5500 + 3000 = 14 000

$39.99 + $39.99 + $24.99 = $104.97

Yet the 14 000 crown pack costs $133.49 which is $28.52 MORE than buying the crowns separately.

5500 + 5500 + 5500 + 3000 + 1500 = 21 000

$39.99 + $39.99 + $39.99 + $24.99 + $14.99 = $159.95

And the 21 000 crown pack costs $199.99 which is $40.04 MORE than buying the crowns separately

Usually packs like this offer more crowns for a better price than purchasing separately. Such as you can either buy two 1500 crown packs for $30 or just buy one 3000 crown pack for $25 and save $5 by doing so. This means for those who don't do the math and trust that they are getting a good deal are actually getting completely ripped off! Whether or not this occurs in USD or other currencies is unknown to me at this time.

I shouldnt have to buy it through playstation at all I want it from yhe ESO site on my computer then have it download to my PS4 account when I log into ESO.

The discrepancy is their updated currency conversion rate on the back-end, which has made things less balanced for specific countries. There were dozens of threads/complaints/comments about it right after the last sale ended (which is when they made the switch).

Anyone caring enough to buy that many Crowns pretty much knows by now to do the math for their own region before taking the plunge.
