If you mean out in the open world, no, you don't just need wayshrines. Most area's have a gate that connects eachother, you can just ride through them.
In Cyrodill, no, you can't just leave. You need a wayshrine.

The only place you need a wayshrine to get in and out of is Cold Harbour. There's a one way trip in, but once you're there, you're stuck until you port out. At least, if there are portals there that will take you home, I don't remember them.

Elsewhere, most zones within an alliance are connected. The only one I'm not sure of is Craglorn. Moving between alliances requires you to employ navigators and some DLC zones are not connected to anything. Now, you can get in and out of those zones via boats, if you want, but there's no land travel available.

Navigators can get you pretty much anywhere, but it's not really that different from the wayshrines, except in concept.

Then just use a wayshrine to leave cyrodil... what a nonsense complaint. If it's for immersion reasons then it stands to reason that using the damn wayshrines is more immersive than shutting the game off.

you can join a different campaign in cyrodiil to get next to your alliances wayshrine. that's the quickest way. or just kill yourself (not by a player, but a NPC) and you'll be able to port to wayshrine.

The Transitus Shrines will get you around, as long as you have contiguous keeps that is. But, yea, being on the other side of the map from your Alliance Base and another alliance owns most of the map makes getting out of Cyrodiil a real chore.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

queue up your alt cyrodill. You can also go into sewers then leave.
They both will drop you at a home base and then go to wayshrine and leave.
Or die but who likes to die.

And yes welcome to horse simulator.

I think you can...almost. The only place I wasn't sure of was Coldharbour but testing it just now there is a portal to/from your capital city in your second zone (Wayrest for me). Every place else I can think of you can walk to, take a boat, or it has a portal (Eyevea, The Earth Forge).

I just realized though, that while you can port into Eyevea and The Earth Forge using a portal from guild halls you can't leave these places without using a Wayshrine or teleporting to a friend. I can't think of any other places though (not counting unique quest zones you only visit once).

If you are in Cyrodiil and need to get back to your wayshrines quickly, use /stuck. Or die to an NPC Guard for the classic deathport.

Eyevea does have portals out. Up behind the main hall, as I recall. Not sure about The Earth Forge, but I spend so little time there, I could be forgetting something.

I don't know about Cyrodiil, never been there, but don't forget that elsewhere you don't need a wayshrine to portal to your house(s) or the Harborage at any time. Multiple houses, strategically located, can be quite handy in that respect.

EDIT: I meant to add that the difference between a portal and a wayshrine may be considered one of semantics!

Well then I will apologize. I assumed it because you were talking about shutting off the game to leave Cyrodil, which would generally not be a good thing somebody says especially when they say the words; "the problem" in their sentence.

But again, I do apologize for jumping to the gun like that, it was rude of me.

I believe there is a portal back where you are first dropped into the zone, down near Caldwells Hideout or whatever that is called. But most use the Hollowcity WS for that early on.

Here is a map of boat and travel routes in Tamriel. I know that some players like to keep immersion to travel and don't like to use wayshrines.
    Hope this helps..

In Cyrodill, no, you can't just leave. You need a wayshrine.

You can bypass that easily enough, join a Cyrodill pvp campaign, take a tour around Cyrodiil, enter the sewers, take a tour of the sewers and then enter WGT and then leave it by the door you entered through and it will put you back into the town where you were when you joined the Cyrodiil pvp campaign.

Suicide is best in that hopeless situation. Select to respond at wayshrine
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.
