I'd be less annoyed if break free was working reliably. I'm having the same problem I get sometimes with hysteria. Full stamina (or close enough) but still can't break free.
Are you on PC? I bound Breakfree/Bash to a key rather than the mouse as it was more reliable that way. I use the Q key as I remapped Quickslots to the 7 key. I kept using up potions moving around....Anyway, you can keep the mouse binding if you want, but add a key for a secondary.
But, my dodge roll technique works, see above.

They made the mechanical ones in Halls of Fabrication leap so to make to easy on them, they made the rest of them leap. This is want they do. Every time you see a patch and they talk about improved performance it usually means they have taken something out of the game or merged several thing together to save on space and memory. It;s what they do with skills, classes, npcs and now monsters. There will be no investment in infrastructure or man power. Instead they will continue to do this kind of stuff to made room for the next “chapter” (that will be sixty dollars thank you.)

Dodge roll+speed potion.
I was jumped by 6 at an dolmenI think the worst part is when you have a couple of Clannfear together, one leaps at you, you block and release, but then the other comes in right behind it and knocks you down and both 'devour' you. NOT FUN!

There has been leaping Clanfear in the game long before HoF, you need to become more familiar with world bosses in Auridon and also the main quest when you rescue Lyris..
Yes, I hate the new leaping thing. I hate all these 'teleport strike' attacks as it is. Didn't want another.
