Prices in Guildstores (Event rare items)

So, I've been observing prices in guild stores (I am a relatively new player) and some of them are insanely and ridiculously high.
What, would you consider a reasonable price for Halloweenjack Spectre Mask? Or something like a "reasonable price" does not exist in ESO?

I want to sell this mask...but I am not sure whether it's "ethical"to fleece players of of their gold... Maybe I am naive.. but that's me..

On the other hand it's an interesting phenomenon..

And..

Sell for whatever the going rate is on your server. It's all different. Don't worry about price gouging. If the price is too high, then no one will buy it. It still surprises me what items sell and what doesn't.

It's totally ethical to sell for over the odds. It's in game gold. Easy come easy go.

ZOS sells stuff for real life money for over the odds. I reckon their directors sleep quite well.

At the end of the day it's the MM price for you. You can't sell it over that. If you sell for much cheaper, people will call you a moron. Trust me, it's the truth. :P

You have to remember what they are listed for isn't what they might be selling for. Especially with things like the mask. The first day of the event people will list them at a really high price hoping to sell to people that want it right now and don't want to grind. As the event goes on and more are available the prices will drop. The high priced items that didn't sell will still be listed usually until thirty days is up. With some items by the end of the event they are so plentiful (not the case with masks usually) that they get listed really cheap. Event items towards the end of the event will have prices all over the place because you will see items that were listed throughout the entire time of the event.

Some players will towards the end of the event stop selling items then may offer them again in a few months at a higher price.
and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."

Wait a month or two and prices will go down a *lot* for those masks. But don't wait too long and they'll go up again in about 6 months.

A reasonable price is the one buyers are willing to pay and sellers are willing to sell for. Masks are limited time items and their drop rates are pretty bad, which drives the price up.

If you feel bad about this price, you can sell it cheaper. You'll make some buyer very happy. But there's nothing wrong with asking a higher price for a desirable item - that's just how economy works, both in ESO and in real life.

    What do I care really?
It's not my raison d'etre to be an ESO millionaire. I am here for fun. I get enough of golds enough already without making "morons" of people in guildstores. As I believe people who are willing to buy such masks for over 200.000 golds (I've seen such prices) are, to put it lightly, silly ones... o_0

I'm not sure which mask that is. The one that drops from plunder skulls? If so, on PC EU it goes for around 20k. Sure, some people will set unreasonable prices but those will never sell.

If you're on PC, check this website to see what people are listing at: https://us.tamrieltradecentre.com/

In-game you can use these add-ons:

Master Merchant (requires membership in large trading guilds to get data)

Tamriel Trade Centre (you don't need to be in a trading guild for this one to work)

If you're on console, just scan a few of the major traders to get a sense of prices (the major trading locations are Rawl'kha, Mournhold, Wayrest, and Elden Root).

Anyway, my personal reasonable price is 100k. This has nothing to do with actual MM prices. It's 100k because it's just a piece of cosmetic, so it's hardly worth more. On the other hand, I make around 100k in a day right now so why sell something as rare as this mask for less? If you buy it for 100k it means you worked a day for it. Considering people play these games for years, It's not that unreasonable, right?

I sold 2 on ps4 for 40 k very quickly so one could probably get more. On pc I don't know. Haven't been grinding for skulls there.

Okay, so... this may be new info for you. As you level up, your gold gains scale up. (Enemies drop more gold, the gear you sell is worth more.) A CR160 character can easily pull down about 10k in under an hour. In fact, just running the tier 10 crafting dailies will usually send you on your way with over 4k in cash, plus whatever goodies you pulled out of the boxes.

So, with that in mind, a semi-rare drop costing 15-20k really is pocket change. That represents roughly two - four hours of normal gameplay for an endgame player.

Because, it's a piece of cosmetic? Rare? True. "Useful"? Not much. Unless you're an eso fashionista. ;)

Knowing how much time takes researching traits (have been doing that...le sigh) in order to craft a really good gear that is ACTUALLY useful in a game (or run dungeons to get these pieces) and then how rare some golden tannins are...I can understand high prices for these gear sets...but a piece of a cosmetic change to your character?
I guess, I don't get it.. but ok, like I said.. I am not an ESO fashionista ;)

But... but... FASHION SCROLLS IS LIFE!!! :p

Generally speaking, cosmetic stuff does have a fairly substantial value in MMOs, simply to differentiate your character from all of the others wandering through the game. It's one way to say, "this is me, I'm different from those 10k other guys on the map."

A reasonable price is always what someone is willing to pay for it. Very simple and how it commonly works.

Find an item priced for more than you are willing to spend, do not buy it. If a seller prices it rather high and it does not sell then it is their loss.

If you sell low, someone else will just buy it and flip it for more. If someone has to profit, might as well be you
