Well there is all this gear that is great in PVP that is behind a PVE wall and that wall is a lot higher.

Encouraging to hear!

It would seem Zos chose to put things like Caltrops and War Horn into the AvA lines to get non PvP players into AvA in the chance they would like it.
Seems logical and regardless, it is the way it is.
Oh, and little reason to complain about it these days as it is so easy and fast now. Used to take significantly longer to get to the ranks to unlock the skills..
Do not forget, you probably should have Vigor.
Edit: for those that think it was a dumb idea for Zos to set things up like this, get over it. Pointless to complain. Remember, those that like PvP but find the repetitive nature of PvE boring are forced to do PvE. Again, probably by design.
Well I'm done grinding out those Alliance Points and if I'm being honest, it didn't take as long as I thought it would. So those of you who pointed that out do have a point. However; it was still a horrible experience for me as a pve'er and I'm dreading doing it for my nightblade when it's time.
Now, a question to all you pvp'ers who like it the way it is: why do you even want people like me and other pve'ers in Cyrodiil with you? I was nothing but a weak link the entire time. I had no desire to "git gud" at pvp...I was only there to get an ability and gtfo. I didn't care to learn any strategies or lookup pvp builds. Cyrodiil was just a means to an end. I was literally a dps DK with a healing staff and a bow. I understand people tend to have a natural aversion to change, but being against making Caltrops and/or Vigor obtainable via pve seems counterproductive for a pvp'er.
What I'm saying is: if there were no pve'ers in your ranks who are only there to unlock an ability, Cyrodiil would be filled with only people with an interest in pvp...people who want to be good at pvp and take it seriously. But because we have to pvp to get the ability, we're there holding you guys back and getting massacred by players who live, drink, and sleep pvp. Yesterday people kept shouting "DC is filled with pve'ers on the weekend...that's why we're losing". And I kept thinking to myself "well if we didn't have to do this crap to get an ability, Cyrodiil would be all yours...God knows I have no desire to be here". Since populations are locked, you could theoretically end up with 50/50 pve'ers/pvp'ers on you side...meanwhile, people who actually want to pvp are unable to get in because it's already full.
Wouldn't Cyrodiil be more fun/engaging for pvp'ers if everyone one there had a genuine interest in pvp?
Anyway, I'm sure I'll get more people who totally miss the point and parrot "but pvp'ers have to do pve bla bla bla" bs, but it seems like it would be better for both groups if pve viable abilities were obtainable in pve so us filthy pve'ers aren't constantly dying and making your teams weaker.
They complain if we are there, they complain if we are not, simple fact of life is PVPers are whiny jerks that are never happy.
It would be great if i would be in Cyro once leaving Wailing Prison.
But all pvpers have to painfully grind to level 10, get the skyshards, lorebooks, fg skills, undaunted....and ganked by the mobs, zerged by undeads, before going back home, Cyro.
Pvpers suffer a lot more than pvers.
Caltrops is one of the better stamina aoe abilities but in order to get it I have to grind pvp. I have absolutely no interest in pvp. I just finished running around in Cyrodil with a group trying to do stuff and it was honestly the worst experience I've had to-date in ESO. If I wanted to pvp I'd be playing Call of Duty or one of those MOBAs. Up to now I've been really enjoying ESO. I'm cp320 and have a few level 50 characters and master crafters. Now I'm working on my dps DK and it seems I'm going to be forced to pvp if I want this powerful pve ability.
I'm sure someone will point out the fact that one of the morphs is for use against mounted characters, but it's still largely a pve ability. There really needs to be some other way to obtain Caltrops (or AP) for those of us who have no desire to pvp.
It's really bad design whenever a developer locks pve abilities behind pvp. I'm guessing it's been this way for a while so I doubt they'll change it anytime soon, but it's really dumb design.
Why is everything required for PvP locked behind a PvE wall?
Just branch out and do some new things, PvP'ers have a lot more PvE grind than the other way around.
Because PvE is a metric crap ton easier to grind skills than throwing in to the land of gankers, destro ult zergs, and horrendous lag. I don't woe unto thy PvPlayer for there is no woe to be found.
