Why do we call Veteran Dragonstar Arena, vDSA, but call Veteran Maelstrom Arena vMA?

Probably because Maelstrom is a single word and Dragonstar is the name of a region composed of two words.

Maybe it's a syllable thing. Sounds like a thesis paper topic though.

You could just start a movement of people referring to it as nDA/vDA. Fads grow into changes then norm when more participate.

    ^exactly this

Still it confused me at first why we didn’t refer to Veteran Maelstrom Arena as vMSA.

Dragonstar is two full words put together, so vDSA

Maelstrom is one word, it can't be pulled apart into two words, hence vMA

    It's not really a mystery

The logic applied to Dragonstar Arena isn't applied anywhere else to any of the other Dungeons or Trials. Dragonstar is a single word as it is written in-game. If it were written as Dragon Star Arena, then that would warrant the acronym DSA. But it's not, Dragonstar is written as a single word, so, DA would be logical.

Maelstrom is one word in itself. You cannot split it and have two words "mael" and "strom". Dragonstar is a combination of two words.

Maelstrom is always only one word and cannot be two words, (even though Mael was a Breton Saint from Wales) Dragonstar can be and are two words, despite being one word here.

Actually, Strom is also the german word for "steam" and "flow" but iunno if a Welsh Breton Saint's german flow was kept in mind for the Maelstrom arena. Fa-Nuit-Hen might have some explaining to do.
