Serious, guild traders are unaffordable now.

I was the guy who had the guild trader in Shadowfen by the crafting station. I remember when the guild traders costed as low as 100g I believe it was, the cheapest trader you could get back then (for ebonheart) was bleakrock ffor 10-15k, and my shadowfen spot was about 30-50k. I always said we needed to increase the amount people pay for the guild traders, so ZOS did they made it 10k gold to buy a trader. That was fine, I actually wanted that so people couldnt easily buy empty traders for cheap. But then T1 dropped and guild traders got ***.

Now currently, I'm seeing guilds that don't even have anything listed buying spots that used to be dirt cheap for over 200k. They're literally just sitting on guild traders spending massive amounts of gold making 0 profit. There is also plenty of low end guild traders buying "cheap" spots for ridiculous amounts of gold that makes it near impossible to make a profit off the location. Why is this a problem? Because those of us with actual trader guilds with active sells are having to pay out of our pocket to maintain our spot. I used to never ask for donations or make minimum sale requirements, because I always bought a relatively cheap but active spot. The sells were really good for crafting mats since it was right by a set station. So back in the day I was able to clear around 5-20k in profits each week depending on how active and how much I paid that week. But now that's out the window/impossible. Medium to low end guilds cannot make a profit off traders anymore, because so many players have millions of gold sitting around (or that they bought) and can easily spend a few hundred thousand on a spot with a separate guild just to hurt other guilds.

I'm sure if you got a few million to buy a good place in a major city you'll make a profit. But in general for us traders that aren't anywhere near as active, we're unable to keep a trader each week. People are just buying millions of gold and wasting it on our spots just so we're unable to make a profit. This has been going on EVERYWHERE. I've found countless traders that spend over 100k yet have nothing listed on the store, or if they do it's not nearly enough to come even close to profit.

Can ZOS possibly do anything to fix this issue or has the economy just gotten so *** up that it's impossible to recover?

Sales tax will not cover the cost of a trader, not even in profitable areas. You will need to raise your kiosk fees with other donations.

Guild Traders have been losing money for most guilds for a loooooong time.
My main guild has had a trader for most weeks since PC launch and i don't think we have ever made a profit in all those years. I see this as a service to my guild members, not a way to make money.

And yes, prices have gotten ridiculous as of late ...

All the gold in my guild bank was made by my guild, each week I would pay for the trader out the guild's pocket. I too had my guild since launch, but I always made a profit. I went from 0 gold in the bank to about a million+. But as of recent, I've pretty much would of spent all that money 10x over if I didn't pay out my pocket for the increasing trader prices.

I really enjoyed making a profit each week, and when I stop playing one of my friends would manage the bank and buy the trader for me, it kept making more and more gold without me having to do anything or even play. However for the past year or since T1 we've started to lose gold. The highest amount I had was a million, now it's down to 300k because I've personally spent over a mil on traders in the past 6 months. Now with just 500k in my bank (to buy gear and stuff) I've had to resort to losing guild profits. But at this point I'm not making anything off these traders, it's been a huge waste of gold. All because some jackass can buy 2.5mil gold for a few dollars then rack my and everyone elses trader spots up 500%.
