As the title suggest, cloak is capable of still disjointing all attacks shortly after it's cast regardless of the attack type or any counter effects upon the nightbalde (mark, reveal, magelight, evil hunter).
What does this mean? It means NB is capable of compeetely mitigating damage during a specific (but short) window directly after cloak's cast wherein the use takes no damage but can still be affected by secondary status effects. This is more potent of a defensive mechanic than dodge roll because no damage will be dealt regardless of the skill that is cast. This holds true for AOEs as well such as Dawnbreaker and Meteor. In the case of Dawnbreaker & Meteor they will be CC'd but take no damage from the initial hit. Ideally, counter effects such as those previously mentioned should remove this defensive feature as it is integral to keep cloak in a functional position when not affected by a counter.
How to easily reproduce.
2 players in a duel or opposite faction (ideally on a LAN).
Player 1 (tester) continuously casts a heavy attack on a marked (piercing mark) target.
Player 2 (subject) casts cloak when the heavy attack reaches it's pinnacle damage point.
Can utilize gap closers as well for testing purposes.
