Tava tank gone, what next?

Hi. I,ve been using tava build for my stamina dk tank. Now that with new patch I cannot use shuffle anymore so what is the best gear choise outside Tava? I have Ebon and Tava atm.

Dunno if you really want to, but you can proc Tava via the Dodge of attacks from Roll-dodge, which is much more on-demand. but uses up some stamina.

Bloodspawn is a preferred set for tanks for ultimate regeneration.

I'm gonna give my set of Tava's to my NB and perhaps craft something else. I hear Torug's is an okay alternative for moar powerful crusher glyphs. In the meantime I'll teach said NB to poke things with a sword and board. Who knows, it may be fun.

Try Akaviri Dragonguard to replace Tava's for an ultimate build. If you want to go a different direction, I would recommend either Alkosh or Torugs Pact with Infused weapon and crusher enchant, to debuff enemy resistances and increase group DPS.

Why does it mean the tank is gone? I will just put something else in shuffles place and still use a high ult regen build

Last I checked, Plague Doctor was still boring but decent. If you're having issues with ultimate, Shalk or Dragonguard may be worth looking into.

If you want Shuffle, then make Hist Bark. I use it on my tank.

I also use bloodspawn but imo.. shuffle was and is the most effective ulti gatherer.

You can use something like Akaviri Dragonguard if you want to keep being an ulti tank. Another option is Alkosh, switching ulti gen for armor reduction. Or something like Torugs pact to enhance the crusher for similar armor reduc.

Shalk is often useless because you get the same buff from Heroic slash, and they do not stack.

Hist bark is also a good set if you just want to keep dodging without shuffle, but it cannot be paired with Tava's (until we get jewelry crafting).

Werewolf Hide is good for Ultimate, but I find Bloodspawn does enough Ulti gathering for me with my Hist Bark and Plague Doctor

well, classic Troll King+Plague Doctor + Beekepeer should be still good enough.. Depends on what you want to see from your tank..

@shack80 run torugs crafted with infused weps amd crusher enchant. Also pick up alkosh and run that with torugs for buffing ur groups deeps

How about fortified brass (medium) + plague doctor? this way you get all benefis of medium with the defence of a heavy set

re medium fortified brass for tanks - IMO, you will have not enough resists. You need at least 30k-35k. But it should be checked...

2 piece heavy + fortified + shield should take your armor at nearly 20~22k + major resolve/ward (5k) + bloodsawn 5 ( or 1 piece mighty chudan/pirate skel) you will get very close to capped defense with all the resource management med armor has to offer.

Just saying this should be tested

My setup is 5 torugs, 5 plague doctor, and two one piece health monster pieces and I love it. You could try that, or even switch plague for Alkosh/ebon

Ever since they nerfed shuffle, tavas hasn't been the same since. This patch was just a kick in the face to that set.

If you want an ulti-gen setup, can do dragonguard, werewolf hide, and bloodspawn.

Since you have Ebon, you can do torugs/alkosh instead and keep the bloodspawn for some ulti-gen

I've never really understood the appeal of Torug's pact, you are reducing the enchantment cooldown below the duration of the crusher and weakening enchants (they last 5 secs, and with infused and torugs the enchant cooldown is 3.5 secs), but it isn't hard to keep a good uptime on the enchants without torugs. Yes torug's increases the potency of the enchant, but is a few hundred extra points of penetration worth a 5 piece set? I don't know. I know that theory-crafters I respect (Woeler and Alcast) both have tried to explain why Torug's is good, but I just don't get it. Obviously Alkosh is great but it isn't going to be for everyone.

My next DK tank build is probably going to have the new Asylum sword and board on the front bar, 5 piece plague doctor and 2 piece bloodspawn on armor. With jewellery and back bar weapons I can still have another 5 piece set active on the back bar, so I am thinking of using Akavari dragonguard and just using my backbar for buffs and cheaper warhorns.

I'm going to lurk in this thread for other idea's though.

Torugs gives 2 small benefits. Mainly it is the 1.5s window where you can refresh crusher while maintaining 100% uptime. With just infused, timing has to be perfect or uptime drops (can be done with a DiT that ticks every second like wall of elements, but frost tanking is still rare). When crusher is down, the whole group loses nearly 5% DPS, which is significant in trials with 8-9 optimized DPS.

The other benefit is the slight magnitude increase. It's about 600 pen added, which frees up DPS from needing to put 6 points into penetration CP. They can then put those CPs elsewhere for roughly 1% DPS gain on the whole group. It's not massive, but can make the difference in a leaderboard score.

One last nice thing about Torugs Pact is that the infused crusher debuff value is roughly the same as Alkosh, so if the tank switches between these 2 sets for different fights, the whole group does not need to go redo their CPs.

Changed Ebon + Tavas combination for Akaviri + Ebon for my 4-man-stuff-tanks already weeks ago, because sustaining the medium armor buff as a magicka tank was already pretty hard, especially in PUGs for daylies where healers are around who never heard of bubbles or shards.

Pretty pleased with that, the flat ultimate reduction is almost as good as the Tavas ultimate reg. The change in the armor skill lines does not hurt me at all.

PS: With a NB magicka Tank you can still use Tavas, because this class has its unique evade buff (and it's even magicka based).

That's not a replacement for Tavas.

Sure some have mentioned it but dragon which gives some magicks regen and reduced costs for ult.

Alkosh if your getting a lot of synergies.
Plague if you want more health
Werewolve to gain ult from taking damage (dragon is better imo).
