(PVP) Why the Clockwork city is a pay to win

WeAreWatchingYou
WeAreWatchingYou
Soul Shriven
Let's examine each dlc/expansion of this game and their rewards:

Imperial City DLC: The first one of the dlcs you could purchase back on the day. What did it include? A new pvp zone with two dungeons, pretty decent.

In order to collect the best rewards you had to farm on a pvp/pve zone with really hard zone bosses meanwhile you were hunted by other players, who wouldn't enjoy this?

The best helm you could get (and it wasn't a 100% drop like nowadays) was the Molag Kena one, and believe me when I say that Molag Kena was nothing like the new one. People used to reach the final boss and they couldn't complete the dungeon or it took hours to them, and that's just the final boss. Quite challenging and pretty decent rewards.

Orsinium: The second DLC. New zone, new quest, new rewards. A dlc focused on pve and questing mostly. Well balanced sets and a new crafting station. What could you get with this DLC? vMA weapons. How do you get them? COMPLETING THE MOST CHALLENGING SOLO EXPERIENCE OF THIS GAME, many can't even complete the vMA once, specially the new players. As a reward for your big balls you obtain a RANDOM TRAIT vMA weapon. Just one (you may obtain more if you enter on the weekly boards but meh)

Thieves Guild: Pretty much like Orsinium but without vMA, Maw of Lorkhaj added and pretty decent sets for PvE. Great story tho but no real unbalancing content.

Dark Brotherhood: Pretty much like thieves guild. No real unbalancing content added.

Shadows of the Hist: Two new dungeon with pretty decent sets. Challenging enough compared with the rewards you can get.

Horns of the reach: Same than SoH, challenging dungeons and decent gear drop. In my opnion, the best looking and usefull monster sets comes from this dlc.

Clockwork City: Enter the dlc, it doesn't matter if you play using the Windows Speech Recognition tool, just join one of the trillion groups doing the nAS and farm THE BEST WEAPONS ON THIS GAME IN 10 MINUTES, OVER AND OVER AGAIN, no real challenge even in VETERAN. Aren't you happy with your drop? DO-NOT-WORRY!!! change the trait as much as you want to the desired one; you just need 50 crystals (it will take 2 hours at the most to farm that amount of crystals).

Oh you can also access the stations to craft the MOST OP PVP SETS AVAILABLE! and that doesn't end here! do you think you are pretty tough since you play with vMA weapon? Let's nerf them, so if you would like to keep rolling you have to purchase this dlc, or at least a sub.

Fanboys bear with me,

Enjoy,

Not sure how it's p2w. Winning on normal for sub perfect weapons isn't going to make you complete it on VetHM nor make you slay the whole of Cyrodiil.

Gear doesn't make the player, any decent trial runner or solid PVP'er will school anyone in standard crafted gear over a scrub who farmed normal content back to back.

Yeah man they’re not that great. The 2H is pretty cool and the perfect destro isn’t bad if you’re willing to give up a second 5pc but really it’s no game changer.

Most of the guilds even have transmutation stations in their halls so you don't need that one from Brass Fortress.

CWC crafted sets can be bought in guild stores regardless of DLC ownership.

Asylum weapons are good, but DLCs have come with desirable PVP items before. At any rate, these might be the best weapons in the game for some builds, but they're far from universally BiS. And if the only reason you have an ASS weapon is because you were carried through the content, you're going to get wrecked in PVP regardless of your gear.

Trait change isn't locked behind DLC ownership. Within five minutes of when I logged in yesterday the GM of one of my guilds announced they had placed the trait change table in the guild hall.

Which are those best crafted sets in the game you talk about? You mean the good ones like Shackle, seducer, kagrenac, julianos/hundings, nmg, eternal hunt, clever alchemist, tava's?

Or the op trait change that is available in many guild halls or player houses?
And what are those best weapons in the game? Surely you can't talk about the bow, resto staff or dual wield

Why OP's logic is totally flawed.

    1. No one is joining a group in zone and obtaining the best weapon ever. No one. If the new weapons ad ether best it's only obtainable via vet HM. Your not clearing HM with a pug group.

    2. It has yet to be determined hiw good these weapons really are and certainly the case with the imperfect ones.

    4. He glosses over the vMA weapons yet makes a big deal about these new weapons. Have to question that solidly.

    4. Get over it and get used to it regardless of what your oppinion on the matter is.

I do like the little attempt OP made to belittle anyone who disagreed with him. ROTF. Fanboys. How lame.

Don’t expect your concerns to be taken seriously when you refer to AS weapons as the best weapons in the game. This was only an issue with the original AS staves, which obviously didn’t last long. Truth is, the power creep from new content in this game is incredibly low as far as MMOs go.

These posts kill me. We havent abolished capital yet, so in the mean time zos will continue to make products to keep profit so they can continue.

On the otherhand, im curious, what do you think would happen if they released new content with metiocre gear and rewards to appeal to a ftp crowd? I cant imagine people would be happy or excited at all.

There are so many viable and strong builds outside of this patch. To suggest this game is like infestation in which you buy to respawn or flat out purchase weapons that are clearly op is absurd.

OMG. Yes. I think OP is just a little salty because he wasn't given enough money to buy this new DLC.

I agree with this especially that last part about fanboys, as to a P2W this is a joke that would be like saying every MMO that you have to purchase and expansion to play is P2W. This is an MMO and as such needs to make money on a constant basis to keep functioning as an MMO. It's simple economics I have a hard time understanding how you and others don't realize that. The game and any MMO game has to come out with new stuff DLC, expansions, etc. with new items, areas ,etc. in order to keep people playing MMO or get people to come back. As such if you do not keep up with all of them you eventually will be left behind.

You P2W people need get over yourselves and realize that this is how MMO's work because they have to keep a constant cash flow or just stick to single player games where need for DLC's and Expansions are not needed.

You dilute the meaning of "pay to win" when you stretch it this far just because you're cranky the newest stuff is the shiniest stuff. Of course it is, why would they add things that aren't interesting or desirable? That'd be pretty pointless.

As for it being easier now to farm up gear, yeah I can't really argue with that. Also don't have a problem with it: grinding sucks. What's fun is doing fun things because they are fun, not running the same whatever over and over again to get a tool I need to do fun things because they are fun. That's what I want, and I'm perfectly happy if that's what everybody else gets too.

Also, crafted sets are in a nice spot right now, and they are trivially easy to get if you've been playing for more than a couple of months. It's not as if the only options to be at all competitive are locked behind a paywall.

DLC is not pay to win as definition.
You can also farm stuff like SPC or Moondancer in normal mode.
Gear in ESO is not very tired making it pretty random that is best and good.

Crafted sets can be bought just by asking in guild chat.
The transmute station will come to major guilds.

Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Those sets are not BIS at any rate. May be perfect destro - but good luck to get it with PUGS. All other BIS is still in other places - moondancer, necropotence, julianos, hunding rage, Alkosh, etc, etc.
Looks like P2W is a new term - "pay to whine" :)

Pay to win is having Maelstrom weapons in the crown store, insta-buy yourself 690 cp, purchase something that makes you learn all traits. I don’t think you know what P2W is.

Sorry... but the OP is totally incorrect.

There are so many different combos now that to describe any DLC as P2W is just a long way from the truth.

For it to be P2W then the gear would have to be so crazily OP it would be farcical.... and none of it is. In fact since the nerfs to some of the imprfect weapons they just wont be used in many situations now.

Also; Pay-to_win would be... selling Gold Raid Weapons in the Crown Store. Then; rather than grind out your characters, max out and perfect your Skill allotment, and perfect your timing and Group play while getting the perfect RNG loot drops to get the Gold Raid gear... you could just skip all of that and pay some money to have the best gear in the game.

    -THAT- would be P2W.

Having powerful gear drop from DLC activities only, in paid DLC content, is not P2W.

You can pay a crafter to craft you the sets you need.
The assylum 2h is quite good in PVP but I am not sure its super OP or anything. The Destro staff is a PvE weapon

Personally I feel like this is probably one of the best priced DLC for this game. The Zone, while small (literially), has an increable amount of work put into it.
