With how area chat is....I damn hope this poll is inaccurate.

But I suppose those younger than 18 wouldn't be on this site doing the poll because of the age gate...and because it's during school hours.

One thing I've learned over the years is that you cannot ever judge a persons age by how they type (or talk).

In a previous job I used to deal with people (in the UK) requesting a government service for homeowners. Predominantly rural homeowners, so predominantly middle class, middle aged and older people with decent jobs who could afford a nice house outside of town.

It was extremely common to receive emails like "ok so i dont no if this is wat you do but i have [problem] and i dont no what i should do can you help?????/ wat do i do"

Literally that would be the entire email, formatted exactly like that. Then I'd have to reply and ask for more information or explain that we couldn't do exactly what they wanted right away, or the solution they thought they wanted wouldn't work so we'd be doing something different, or...anything except a straight "yes we'll fix it immediately". Then the abuse would start. Sometimes it was ridiculous threats - they'd go to the press, they'd sue (either the government, the contractor I worked for or me personally), they'd get the law changed so I had to help them...whatever they thought would scare me into giving them their way. Sometimes it was literally just swearing.

Oh, we had a phone service too, so I got to hear them say it as well.

It was kind of the same when I worked in retail, although that's going back about 10 years now. Grown adults screaming in my face because the product they wanted was out of stock, or not released yet or didn't exist or I wouldn't sell it to their child because that would be illegal. At least in that situation they weren't asking for (free) help, but it was still an absurd way to react.

As a result I have absolutely no trouble believing the stuff I see in ESO and other games is equally likely to be coming from a 'respectable' adult with a good job, a family etc. as from a child who simply has no idea how to behave yet (possibly because their parents are those adults and they're being taught that if you scream abuse people 'have to' give you what you want).
