Not a token.
You should be able to choose to 'defect' or 'infiltrate' (same result but for RP purposes) and it costs alliance points.
That way, you can't just change at whim, and you need to earn your way to the other side.

I would be okay with that, if the cost was in the millions of AP and had a long cooldown.

Agreed. Id be cool with it costing millions of AP as well. That would limit it somewhat. I think most of us advocating for this aren't looking to do this multiple times all the time.
i'm all for an alliance change capability.
as far as i'm concerned, it can be a one time thing.
ymmv.
1 time thing I really don't see ZOS doing. You have to look at it from a third party perspective. ZOS is a business, if they are going to do something like that, they are going to want money/profit from it. Exactly like race/name change tokens.

i agree with you, they'd rather have players hopping alliances - maybe with multiple characters - for cash, without a doubt.
one shot people like me need not apply.

Yes, why not, but in this kind of the loop:
1st transfer CD 90 days, 2nd transfer CD 180 days, 3rd transfer CD 365 days, 4th 90 days, 5th 180, 6th 365, etc...
For each toon, of course.

I would be open to faction change, but you should be locked into 1 faction for the duration of the season. This could allow some guilds to stabilize some campaigns that become heavily biased towards a faction.
I see some players, that I recognize, only playing the faction with the largest zerg pushing.
Some people dont have time, energy or will to grind an alt. It just takes way too much time and energy. Alliance change can have a one year cooldown for all i care, but it should be added to the game

But more seriously, I think you should only be allowed to swap every 60-90 days and only if you've completed the primary alliance quest on that character for the alliance you're swapping to.
