Definitely an older player here, but worse than that this is my first ever computer game not counting Lemmings. I still worry about everything.
Everything will be alright in the end, if its not alright its not the end.

Over 65 here as well. I remember punching those cards for Fortran coding - hundreds of them, and handing the stack to the machine operators. Just to be returned the next day because of an error in one card. Lots of fun. Those cards were good for shopping lists!

First PC Amstrad SX25 also with Lemmings and the first Doom. First 'MMO' Drakan on dial up modem.

Judging by the reactions I get in occasional pug groups the mental age of some players is below 12.

I never had to punch cards, but I worked in JCL linking COBOL programs on the first AS400.
My first home-computer was a Sinclair ZX80, and later an Atari 800XL.

I just turned 54 and the first computer I programmed in college was a TRS-80 Model 4. My first "personal computer" was a Timex-Sinclair 1000, if you can even call that a computer.

My first MMORPG was EverQuest 1 way back in 1999 and have been a Roleplayer since around 1981. In fact my ex-wife was my first GM in AD&D in high school....

    Geez, I've been a RP'er for over 36 years?

    :/:( :'(

I really need to get out more...

And just so you know. I am fluent in Ancient Languages. ForTran, COBOL, RPG2, and BASIC.... The days when dinosaurs roamed the earth.

or how about splicing punched paper tapes when they broke? Still got a couple of rolls with the code for a text based dungeon crawl....

Interesting, I would guess the average player is in 27-34 group, as with most MMOs (generally high twenties, low thirties). If the answers are honest, then it would seem ESO has much older player base in general (or at least forum dwellers are older in general). I do know some 60-70 players, with few of them being in my guilds, but I didn't realize there is so many of you. I am slowly approaching 40, but it seems I can consider myself a youngster :D.

Online gaming has been around for a long time now - its not just a playground for young'uns anymore..

I started with Quake 1 Team Fortress back in my early 20's. I loved online gaming then and still enjoy it now. I'm now 46.

I expect part of it is available time.. with kids at uni, I simply have more free time now than I had over the last 18 years.

I'm 34 and I play for 2 years. Haven't played other MMOs before, but I've been playing TES games since 2003, starting with Morrowind. Most people I know in game appear to be in their mid twenties to mid thirties. I don't think I would have had the maturity and determination to play this game had I started it when I was a teen. It does take a significant time investment and commitment. Probably that's why the player base is more mature.

This poll now has just enough data to look similar to the results I've seen in dozens of Elder Scrolls game age polls since 2007.

    Why the inconsistent brackets?

    17-21 = 5 years

    27-34 = 8 years

    35-40 = 5 years

    41-45 = 6 years

    46-59 = 14 years...really?

    60 and above = 40 years

I can so tell you are a millennial. I'm betting you yourself fall in the 27-34 bracket.

If you're 9 you shouldn't be here, for more than one reason. There is a privacy policy, for one thing. I suspect, however, that people tend not to read that..... And if the moderators suspect that someone is underage, well...see you in a few years.

    Information About Children Under 13

Our products and services are not directed towards children under 13. ZeniMax does not knowingly request or collect personal information such as name, address, or email address from children younger than 13 years of age. We ask all users who wish to register online for a particular service (e.g., product, forum, or technical support registration) to submit their date of birth. Those visitors that indicate they are under 13 are not allowed to register online. If we discover that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to promptly delete such information.

I'm 30, and no I don't act my age at all.

Actually impressed how many people voting so far fall into this age category. I would have expected younger with how some of us act.

Different forum; different game, I was a moderator there. Had one poster who seemed to be the definition of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. He'd have several wonderful discussions, great ideas, perfectly civil and interesting to read/participate in. Then he'd have several posts with flaming, baiting, insults, typical troll garbage. One evening when Dr. Jekyll was on the mods messaged him and asked some questions....turns out that the 14 year old and the dad had a shared account on the forum. Dr. Jekyll was the 14 yr old. He was advised to make his own account, because Mr. Hyde wasn't going to be around much longer because of his behavior.....

What I think the young don't realize is the fact that it was those around MY age that created the games/gaming community that got us to this point now, think bout it ;) . I don't find it uncommon at all to see so many "older" gamers B) .
