An auction house would kill trade guilds which are a fun and interesting part of the game.
If your trade guild is abusive leave them, you can make do with a slightly worse spot in a kinder guild (a kinder guilds have more voulintary contributions) If you have a reasonable amount of capital you can even start your own one (not recommended).

The guild stores need to just have their UI replaced, its terrible, the add on Awesome guild store for PC is just a million times better.

Pricing and searching for rare items is certainly an issue with this system perhaps there is a middle ground where there is some way to search or have some idea how to price something (ask your guild I guess)

Sorry to say OP, but its the 1% of the people using this system that is filthy rich. Everyone else is usally scraping by.

The lack of a search and the lack of trader spots on consoles is a major problem in the game.
Guilds only get 500 members. Out of the "10 million players" that ZoS likes to brag about how does this work out?
It doesn't work at all. Simple math would tell you everything you need to know.
10,000,000 heck lets round this down to half that and divide it by the max a guild can have (500)
so that's 10,000 guilds with max players.
Now lets say that the player base is equally divided by platform. Xbox PS4 and pc
We are now at 3,333.333 guilds.
Now I'm not sure exactly how many trader spots there are but I think the average is 7 per area minus the beginning island areas.
So based on that there would be 120 vendors to bid on. This number is larger but I don't have the correct facts to give a real value to it.
correct me if i'm wrong but
120/3333*100=3.6%

so in closing only 3.6% of guilds will have a trader
so out of 1,666,666 players per platform 1,606,666 will be left without a trader. This is only if players were only allowed one guild to be in and every trader has a guild with max numbers.

if my math is right it leaves a lot of dead horses to beat.

You forgot to divide between NA and EU servers.
And I think we are have at least 160 guild traders by now.

And tbh, 10 million accounts created since launch doesn't mean they are playing now. My guild has a bunch of people who haven't logged in for over a year.

Personally, I like the guild trader system (I'm on PC, I use Awesome GuildStore but I don't use TTC).

I have an Auction House in GW2 and a Marketplace in BDO and SWL.
The Auction House is boring and I use it as a glorified vendor as much as I can. Of course, all the stuff I find to sell is super cheap and there are thousands of the same thing listed. Meanwhile all the good stuff is so expensive I have no hopes of buying it without resorting to trading gems for gold or playing 24/7 for a year.
The MP in BDO is a pain and if you want something that's sought after, you are going to spend more time in front of the marketplace NPC than it would take you to visit and search all guild traders in ESO (including the ones in the outlaw refuges).
The MP in SWL is another strange bird. But at least they simplified their crafting system, so you don't have to sift through a gazillion things.
