The key (haha) here is to just give the ability keys a quick and gentle tap to activate. No need to prolong your time with fingers off your movement keys. Another is knowing how to manipulate your character movements, such as strafing and moving your camera around.
It's really all in the finger dexterity. Play long enough and you'll develop veteran fingering skills like I have.
A quality MMO mouse only runs about $40 and has all the buttons you could ever need for abilities. I used a Naga Razer Chroma. The abilities keys are not convenient to use, but it's reidiculously easy to use the nam pad on the mouse, and it won't be a detriment to swift maneuvering during combat.

wut? Most mmo mice you can adjust the speed and weight, please dont say such nonsense. Everything you can do on a normal mouse you can do better on a good mmo mouse.
Well it depends on the MMO mouse. Some of them are massive and a bit heavy, I use the smallest one I could find with 7 thumb buttons and I think it’s a happy medium between the two.
But there’s one thing that’s indisputable - if you’re using the same finger to move as you are to hit your skills, you’re putting yourself at a significant disadvantage when it comes to PvP combat. You’ll have serious trouble connecting with people who “walk through” or circle strafe you.
