What Mouse and Keyboard is easiest?

So I've tried making the switch to a PC from Xbox but I fell like I cant seem to get used to using the abilities on the 1-5 numbers. Every time I try to hit a ability there is this tiny bit of delay in movement since I have to take a finger off of the movement key. I'm using just some regular mouse and keyboard from Walmart and wanted to know if there is a better combo that isn't too expensive and will make using the abilities easier, or is there a better setup and I'm just doing it wrong?

    why not just plug your xbox controller into your p.c.?

    You can use your XB1 controller in the mean time til you get a keyboard mouse you like. As for what kind of keyboard/mouse to get, there is a lot of good stuff out there. It mainly boils down to how you want to play.

    Like some of the PC people here will tell you they have mice that have tons of additional buttons on the side of it. Which might be what you're looking for.

    Wait, I'm confused. Are you using the number pad for skills? I usually use one hand for movement and one hand for skills. Sometimes wireless keyboards and mice will have delays, and I noticed some cheaper versions will have delays. (What this is due to I'm not sure) I've been a PC gamer for years and only recently started playing eso on the ps4.

    I think I tried using my XB1 controller but it completely changes the UI I dont remember but I think It doesnt allow for addons or mods or something like that.

    I mostly use an Xbox controller but then the game defaults to the console UI (ugh) - so I use a K/M when I'm in the bank/guild stores and other things that just work nicer with the K/M interface. I'd recommend a Logitech G602 wireless gaming mouse, which is fairly inexpensive and works quite well.

    Personally I would use my controller. If you're determined to use mouse and keyboard, you have two basic options. Keyboard with custom keys, or mouse with custom keys. Since it seems you're against moving your hand from movement keys, any of the many mmo aimed mice out there could work for you. Get one with the customizable buttons resting where your thumb lies and you won't have to move either hand.

    These range from very affordable to very expensive, so I would do some research if I were you.

    True OP about what you said about add-ons, they get a little funky when the XB1 UI is loaded on top of it.

    Try out what jlmecub said OP, find out what works for you then slowly wean yourself onto the new control set up. It'll take some getting use to.

    So here is another question then for people that already play PC is it worth making the change from XB1 and having to start all over, I'm already a CP 715 and not looking forward to having to start from scratch

    This is a question only you can answer. From the performance discussions I have seen, that aspect alone would make it worth it. Things to consider are your willingness to begin anew, any crown purchases you may or may not be willing to forfeit, and more importantly people. I would switch to PC today were it not for the guild I am in. They make my experience fun enough I won't consider changing platform as of now.

    That question may take some internal reflection to answer.

    So here is another question then for people that already play PC is it worth making the change from XB1 and having to start all over, I'm already a CP 715 and not looking forward to having to start from scratch

    So I can answer this,

    I PC transferred to PS4, and left my PC account sitting around for 3 years. My recommendations is use your enlightenment buff as best you can.

    Get your first toon to lv50, then go through and burn off that CP enlightenment. Open up your character sheet, look at the exp enlightnement boost, sit and math out how many CP points you'll get with your enlightment. Plan to burn that off, then sit and wait for 8-9 days for it to build again. This is if you're past CP350, CP 1-300 should be pretty fast. Once you hit CP160, focus on getting the gear you need for end game. Think about doing PUG dungeons or join a PvE guild for that. I have a couple of good shoulder pieces already from doing some PUGS.

    IF there is a EXP event grab the event EXP buff, dip on some EXP scrolls and go for the grind. I am, however, at CP415 on my PC account. So getting the next CP got a little too slow for my tastes, so while I am waiting on the Witches Fest EXP boost, I'm letting it accumulate enlightenment first, then I'll go back to it and grind some dolmens/do other things to boost the CP up on it.

    Patients with the grind, do not burn yourself out. Use your enlightment to help you.

    I'd recommend changing 1-5 to this: Tab - Q - E - R - and either F or T, roll dodge on shift, sneak on ctrl

    It was default like this in another MMO I played before ESO, it's really comfortable.

    If you are used to the controller keep using it, I use an naga MMO mouse with lots of extra buttons
    very nice to have 1-5+r on it, also seperate button for swithing to weapon 1 and 2
    Grinding just make you go in circles.

    It really only is a skill and muscle memory issue. I play ESO and score push in vet trials just using a regular keyboard and 5-button mouse, with my abilities mapped to the default 1-5 keys.

    The key (haha) here is to just give the ability keys a quick and gentle tap to activate. No need to prolong your time with fingers off your movement keys. Another is knowing how to manipulate your character movements, such as strafing and moving your camera around.

    It's really all in the finger dexterity. Play long enough and you'll develop veteran fingering skills like I have.

    Good keyboards have what's called "n-key rollover". It means you can hit multiple keys simultaneously and they'll be detected properly. That way you can have one finger on say the W key while you tap a 1-5 number key with another.

    BTW, the default PC key binding has Ultimate mapped to R, which is right next to E which is the most used key in the game. Unless you're way, way better than I am this inevitably leads to accidental ultimate expenditure. I swapped Ultimate to U and Collections to R.

    I believe you're looking for an mmo mouse, I use the razor naga that has a 12 number grid on the side of it and I absolutely love it, wouldn't be able to play without it, highly recommend you get one.

    I don't see this combo often for gaming, but I use the Logitech M570 Trackball mouse, and a Tenkeyless mechanical keyboard. This works for my desktop, it allows me to armchair game with my laptop, and I don't feel I lose any speed or responsiveness vs. a traditional gaming mouse. I tried using a controller, but hated the UI so much that I quit after about 30 mins.

    Reddragon Perdition gaming mouse is cheap and very comfortable, and any keyboard would work once you have a gaming mouse, no need for keybindings after you have one really. Logitech G series is also very good. Razor is over price and its quality is awful for its price imo.

    I use my mouse for movement, "E", stealth, blocking and dodging and also weapon switching. Have G502 mouse.
    Use the keyboard for my skills, Q and R..fingers sit on 2-3-4.

    Took a bit to condition but I've got it down pat now.

    I started on XBox One, then moved over to PC. I still play using the XBox One controller plugged in to my PC -- I'm used to the controller button assignments. I can detour to mouse and keyboard when I want, but for ESO, the controller seems more comfortable.

    Moving to the PC platform did require building up my character again, but I only had one at that point anyway, and wasn't so far along that getting back to where I was wasn't a terrible grind.

    You don't have to use the number keys. I never understood how people do it as you need to stop moving to use abilities.

    I use the following keybinds:

    Movement = WASD
    Ability 1 = Q
    Ability 2 = E
    Ability 3 = C
    Ability 4 = X
    Ability 5 = Z
    Ultimate = R
    Consumable = Tab

    This way, you can easily reach all abilities while maintaining full movement.

    MMO mice are great if MMOs are all you play. But if you play shooters too, you'll want a mouse with a good sensor (which MMO mice do not have; not to mention their weight/balance isn't good for flicking).

    Long time PC gamer so I'm use to the keyboard/mouse setup for gaming. I use a Razor Anansi keyboard(has 7 buttons below space bar than can be setup, easy reach with thumb) with an old Microsoft Sidewinder mouse. I'm extremely picky on how a mouse feels when using it so I always go back to my old Sidewinder. I use the default mapping for controls. Works well for me.

    It is more of just using something until it becomes second nature.

    I think it really depends a lot on individual hands.

    I have relatively long fingers; what my mom usually calls a piano-hand. When gaming, I move one column over from normal typing, which situates middle finger on W, ring finger on A and index finger on D. Middle finger moves down to S when required, as obviously I won't be using both at the same time.

    So what do I do for skills? I hit 1 and 2 with ring finger, 3 to 5 (or 6 in games requiring it) with index finger, and if I need to move sideways I flip the trackball quickly and keep running because my middle finger remains glued to the W. So no, I don't need to stop - but not everyone has the same hand.

    I don't think I could even play games like MMO's without a mouse like the Naga.

    Well it depends on the MMO mouse. Some of them are massive and a bit heavy, I use the smallest one I could find with 7 thumb buttons and I think it’s a happy medium between the two.

    But there’s one thing that’s indisputable - if you’re using the same finger to move as you are to hit your skills, you’re putting yourself at a significant disadvantage when it comes to PvP combat. You’ll have serious trouble connecting with people who “walk through” or circle strafe you.
