Were heavy armour users really relying on the wrath passive!

I thought it was to stop from being one shot by other builds.

"Wrath passive actually turned 3.6k weapon damage to 4k for my build. Sadly, we will need to live with 3.6k weapon damage. How unfortunate. :/ Time to deconstruct all of my gear and start over. Really looking forward to that 12% weapon damage from medium armor."

    Said no one.

Sarcasm aside, you're right in that the main advantage of HA is survivability, but the point is that taking away 200 weapon / spell damage is decent. It's free damage to a subtype that shouldn't be doing that much damage. It's something, and to me, seeing how ZOS likes gradual change, it might be a symptom of more drastic balance.

These changes aren't substantial at all, but they do help mitigate the issue at hand. It shows ZOS has noticed to some degree. Some serious revision should be done IMO to armor at this point, giving medium / light stronger offensive capability than heavy, yet let heavy play strongly defensively wise and have some form of attrition. But seeing how ZOS treats these changes, we likely won't see anything like that for a while.

OMG those terrible PVPers! Oh, wait. I am one. You know, some of us realize that the answer to overperforming sets, builds, and tactics is....better tactics. Blame PVPers while we ALL put our noses to the hamster wheel and grind out that new meta.

Yes , it looks like that you understand; but then you come with: " there's a PVEer screaming that content is too easy or a PVEer screaming that content is too hard. I mean, we can all read the forums. " Yes but a PVE-er gets help from others and that was it, NOT the whole game gets written around him! And he gets most a L2P comment as well.

And then: "ZOS does look to see if stuff is "overperforming" in aspects fo Cyrodiil." so yes you really understand things it seems, but then again you come with: "how is ZOS supposed to keep you occupied without a grind for new gear?", there are just very few hunks out there which are always in terrible need for this and that, but most of the playersbase in PVE is happy the way things are, and certainly don´t look forward to a new downgrade where all have to change gear, find new balances and so on, cuaze when you have to that with, like in my case 9 chars at max lvl, that is no longer fun! And not really needed, cauze they all perform well enough and do that in raids too.

And one thing I surely don´t do, is to blame PvP-players for that what ZOS does, but ZOS listens too much to you guys, and I am playing PvP too, but it is in nature of things there that you get killed from time to time!

    This wasn't you then:
all other palyers in all the other Zones of ESO are so sick of this small PvP-Base always getting all and everything NERFED due to their own incompetent way of playing a game in a PvP-zone

Yeah, see, that's my point. I know, and you know that the PVE playerbase is happy to have their meta builds and their BIS gear. They don't want to grind.

The PVP player base is happy with their meta builds and their BIS gear too. (They just don't like it when the others guys use it to devastating effect, but its fine when they to do it too. Hence why my answer to OP gear/builds is better tactics, but then I run in an organized raid so some things that seem balanced to me don't to PVPers who run in smaller groups who can't use the same techniques. But, meh. Like you said, in PVP, players should expect to die.)

But ZOS? ZOS isn't happy. Happy players contented with the gear they ground to get will complete the content, get good, get bored, and then complain everything's too easy or move on to other games. However, if ZOS changes things up and reinvents the meta with every major patch, players who are constantly chasing the carrot of everchanging meta and BIS stay in game. They grind for it, racking up those hours played. Sure, they complain on the forums, but they grind for the gear. Even PVP players who hate PVE will grind for gear and PVE players who hate PVP will grind for skills.

PVP isn't driving this ever changing cycle of nerfs and adjustments even though it seems like ZOS is taking ideas more from the PVP side of thing (mostly because Molag Kena won't complain about a tank using Wrath to kill her, etc.) ZOS is driving the endless everchanging cycle of nerfs and adjustments because it makes sense for their business model. Progression in this game is for BIS gear now, so the BIS has to constantly change in order to keep players engaged and playing even if they are unhappy about it.

So let's all put our noses to the grindstone this patch. Next major game update, ZOS'll change the meta all over again in some new way. Keeping PVE and PVP players happy with their gear isn't their object. Making PVP and PVE players play the game is their object and, right now, that means grinding in order to stay with the best meta gear and builds.

The wrath passive is not needed and heavy won't be useless. The balancing of Armor types is not just about the passives, but also the sets they can access. Losing(at most) 200 weapon/spell damage will be a hit, but nothing that's a big deal for anyone that's not trying to be a ganker in heavy(ie glass cannon without the glass). Heavy armor should be about Tank or Tanky DPS. Medium/Light should remain the best damage for their respective fields at the cost of survivability. ESO's biggest problem(outside of performance) is the stacking of benefits without any associated costs. The top tier PvP builds have nearly unbreakable defense and glass cannon offense while still(despite nerfs) being able to sustain for days. This shouldn't be possible..

Removing Wrath will do very little to stop people using heavy armor. The skill will be replaced with something else(no one knows what that is). Also it is not in the patch notes so I don't think this change is going to make it in on this DLC. Even if it does make it my previous statement still stands.

PVP will still be heavy armor all over. Wrath or no wrath.

Patch notes released later. Eating crow... lol. taste lovely..

Wrath is not replaced with anything. It's being removed and the healing and heavy attacks resource passives split. It's in the latest PTS patch notes.

Yeah. This is a big nothing for my heavy armor PVE tank. Losing a few hundred spell/weapon damage means nothing when my tank's DPS was already in the slow but steady category. DPS is not really what I'm standing here holding block for.
