I like to think that this latest visit from the supreme beings is a direct response to the community's outcry over botting, and I encourage everyone to keep reporting the bots you encounter. There is a link to my Addon - for reporting bots quickly and conveniently - in my signature.

I still stand by my assertion that these GMs are employees that are doing this voluntarily on their own time. The Saturday nature of the latest visit would seem to confirm this. They can ban bots on any day. The bots are always there. On Saturday, though, the employees might be out from under the pressures of their day job. I envision some employee sneaking into the offices wearing Ninja apparel so as to not be seen or recognized by the weekend cleaning staff.

Therefore, we cannot expect regular visits, or visits during normal studio working hours.

It is my hope that these volunteers do not get fired by Management, once they learn of what they did, and who did it.

This is great, now I wish us console players could get some relief. But still nice to see them addressing the problem.

I apparently just missed one in Rivenspire the other night.

May I present to you, Gamemaster Movori, declared a saint by the RP community for banishing both bots and trolls.



This screen was taken in May of 2014. The GM's all look the same. Their avatar is a short/med height bearded Psijic mage with lambchops (lol). Several times after this, Gamemasters would show up and do mini on the fly events, like a race around Davon's Watch, and a spontaneous tavern party. In the screenshot above, the Gamemaster hangs out with my main after I watched him eliminate some bots I reported.

Flash forward to today and I haven't seen any Gamemasters showing up in several years. They tend to just stay invisible now, only appearing in chat. I don't know the reason for the change, since seeing the GM's always boosted morale for the players. Maybe someday they'll show themselves again.

I don't think it's because they are sick of the game it probably just has to do with zos not wanting to fund them until now or unless they are really needed

Yeah that's probably right but zos could just put on a work experience kid in game slap a GM tag on his back and everyone's happy
Or even lazier just ad a Gm tag to player names in game at random
Also is there a pattern here of "lazy" suggestions zos could implement with minimum effort, it's becoming a habit
