Best Storyline Quests

I have just started doing quests, I am avoiding most side quests that have little substance to the story and I am just doing the ones that are multiple questlines long the only one I have done so far is the Akilr desert Witheredhand necormancer quest line. So do any of you have any recommendations on what I should do next? I am a big fan of Oblivion so if any quests lines that are similar to any in oblivion i would love to do. (Thieves guild quests were my favourite in Oblivion.)

There's a main questline in each of the zones, that is usually about 15-25 quests long, and some of them feature recurring characters from previous zone's storylines. For the linear storyline progression for the Daggerfall covenant, the zones go in this order: Stros M'kai -> Betnikh -> Glenumbra -> Stormhaven -> Rivenspire -> Alikr Desert -> Bangkorai -> Coldharbour (Coldharbor is the final non-dlc storyline zone for all Alliance storylines)

You can find the order of quests within the zone and where to start them from the wikis, like here:

    http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Story_Quests

But do note that beside the quests names it gives a summary of what the quest is about, so just look at the quest names within them (for whichever storyline you choose)

    Hope that helps :)

Would it be an issue if i accidentally done them in the wrong order? I already completed Alikr and I've just started Bangkorai. Now I feel I should stop what Im doing and head to Stros M'kai... >.<

I don't think it matters that you started in the wrong order. You get credit for completing what you've already completed, regardless of order. But if you want to follow the story in the proper order, you should go to Stros M'kai.

It happens, I did some quests in the wrong order too my first time, and I hadn't even known about how to get to Stros M'kai until completing Glenumbra.

There will be some slight oddities, but I would say it would be better to go to Stros M'kai now before going into Bangkorai etc.

Alikr is a more isolated zone though so you won't notice much different :) so that's lucky. There are some zones where a recurring character dies or reaches a higher political ranking, or higher state of being...so doing those out of order would have really been jarring Xd

I think the only difference you'll notice is that some of the characters at the beginning of the alikr storyline wouldn't have commented on some of the times you ran into them in your past adventures. They weren't actually involved in the quests directly though, just stood on the side (with the exception of one character midway in the storyline, but they were only there for one quest)

You could even actually go back to alikr sometime and talk to those recurring characters that stood on the side that I mentioned to see their dialogue (after you've done the previous quests they're in).

Thank you, I have decided to stop my Bangkorai quests in there tracks and head to Stros M'kai to begin my adventures properly. XD

The main questline story for Rivenspire remains one of my favs. It's a bit darker that most Oblivion quests, more along the lines of Skyrim's Dawnguard's main quest.

I do really like the Stros M'Kai quests, as well as the kharnethi's Roost quests too.

Unfortunately, ZOS/Bethesda have not quite re-captured what made Oblivion quests so good, which is kind of baffling. At least with ESO, they tried to make them more story-rich. There a few quests here and there that I could see being in Oblivion, but usually they're small sidequest that people either rush through or never bother to do.
PC-NA since 2015. Tired and unimpressed.
