Jackdaw Daedrat vs original Daedrat

So, I was sort of wondering what other's opinions were on the Jackdaw Daedrat. To me it just looks far too similar to the original one that's been up on the store for the longest time. Makes me kinda sad since I love the daedra looking stuff. I was hoping that since it's a limited item and 200 crowns more than the original one that there'd be some more defining features than a slight recolour. Maybe a cool animation or something to justify it.

Thanks for posting this. I liked the promotional art for the Jackdaw rat and was trying to compare them earlier through the crown store preview. It looks like most of the difference is obviously in the skull area though as you mention they are very similar. Pretty much like the Rufous and Nibenay mudcrabs.

Personally I don't mind these pets that are subtly different because if you reeeaaalllly love Daedrats or Mudcrabs, you can have both types of pets hanging around in your house and it's kind of neat. For example I have the Rufous and Nibenay mudcrabs playing in the water of my Sleek Creek house. I could see someone who really likes Daedrats doing something similar with the Jackdaw and the original. I guess I don't mind the offering.

Thanks again for posting the reference pics.

Lol. Classic case of Zeni trying to squeeze more money out of their players after applying literally zero extra effort of their own.

Player: "Um, didn't we just have some of these for sale? It looks the same but it costs more now?"

Zen: "Nah, don't you see the big difference? This one has a slightly longer claw on its back foot!"

One is darker and has better contrast which makes the texturing stand out nicely. But there's really zero difference. If they could give the dark one glowy eyes there'd be the rat that should've been the first and only one.

I like the rats actually, but these aren't exciting enough to make me want to buy two identical ones. Sorry.

Unless it's eyes glow on a full moon like the glowy-eyed goat I see no real interest.

The only thing that surprises me is the $2 higher cost. It was of course going to be a reskin, but I figured it would be the same price, especially since it's no more visually striking than the original. It was never really on my list of things to buy, though, so who knows. Maybe the put the price up because they knew they'd sell fewer regardless and want to bet on making more per sale.

The only reason why somebody would get both of these is if they wanted 2 pet daedrats in their house at once.

Thanks for the comparison pics. I was wondering what the difference was.
    I don't think I want either, though.

So from what I can tell the only real difference is the eyes. Besides that I dont notice any actual noticeable differences. Gotta be the laziest attempt at reselling the same item to players Ive seen yet.

At least with the horses, guar and senches youre getting a complete texture overhaul and in some cases slightly different upgrade features.

But this is laziest at its finest. But Im sure there will be those who will buy it regardless.

Do you think it would have been better if we had bats for pets like a black bat and a gold bat? I mean we do have butterflies as pets why not. That would have been better than a rat, it's just a rat with wings.

I guarantee there is an employee at the office who is in charge of the effort:money ratio and signed off on this without hesitation. Since it likely took about 2.5 minutes of work to change the eye color and the name, they have virtually no extra cost involved in this pet. If they sell even one, they probably make a profit.

Don't forget not just the eyes and name but the skull and spine/spikes are slightly lighter.... ooooh! Go out and buy it now! HAHA jk, I agree that this is now the laziest thing in the crown shop.

ZOS, you need to fire somebody over this. This is beyond lazy and to recolour 2 parts of an already existing pet and charge 700 crowns (when the original if I recall only costs 500) is brutal. Charge 200 crowns max or just don't even bother with such laziness!

Thanks for all the replies. Mainly cemented what I was already thinking. The housing thing is interesting but I still don't feel that the new one should be worth 200 crowns more even for that.
