As the question states I am looking for a spec/class with the best AOE DOT potential.
For example the spec/class that I am looking for should just be able to jump into the group of mobs (reg overland ones) and grind all of them with just DOT spells/abilities.
Which class/spec (if) can do this the best ?

✭MagSorc would be my choice. You have wall of elements, liquid lightning, curse, destro ulti...all great AOEsEdited by jlboozer on October 12, 2017 11:36AM1 -
SwimsWithMemes✭✭✭✭Yeah magsorc, you basically never target enemies. Just drop a Liquid, then Blockade, and start walking to the next group (or streak)1 -

✭✭✭✭DK have few AoE DoTs as well.- Dragonknight Standard - ulti that lasts for 15 seconds
- Fiery Breath - AoE cone DoT that lasts 8 seconds
- Burning Talons - AoE root with DoT lasting 4 seconds
- Magma Armor - ulti that protects you (and allies in one of morphs) and deal DoT for 9 seconds
- Ash Cloud - ground target AoE DoT skill that lasts 15 seconds
If you are stamina char, Noxious Breath is stamina based AoE DoT morph of Fiery Breath. Also, there are always caltrops from AvA skill line and Arrow Barrage from Bow.0 -

✭✭✭✭Would be Magicka Templar, had ZoS not completely gutted it. It's still pretty decent with: ritual of retribution, lightning blockade, reflective light, blazing spear and puncturing sweep but you'll start gasping for magicka quite fast if you try to keep those up. I'd say right now it's pet sorcerer, since scamp pulse, liquid lightning, lightning blockade and lightning staff heavy attack are all very strong AoEs and not hard to keep up even with low recovery. Stamina classes are about the same since they use pretty much the same skills, but probably Stamina Templar and Sorcerer are slightly ahead due to biting jabs and hurricane respectively. Other classes don't have access to unique AoE skills but endless hail and razor caltrops do a lot of damage nevertheless.Beta tester since February 2014, played ESO-TU October 2015 - August 2022, currently on an extended break

✭✭Stamina Sorcerer for group play , Magicka Nightblade for solo .
Stamina Sorcerer has the highest AOE damage output of all classes . Hurricane ftw .
Magicka Nightblade can literally use Destro Ulti before it goes down using by Soul Harvest and Banish the Wicked , achieving the highest AOE DPS possible for a solo player . Ex : Skyreach1 -

✭✭✭✭✭Such little love for the Stamina Sorcerers! Hurricane + Endless Hail (+Blade Cloak if you want) will chew through enemies while crit surge keeps you healed. Between that and single target DW abilities, I've never had a problem with my stam sorcs mowing through content. I have one in particular that has gear meant to support her AOEs, and she melts trash mobs.
