LOL. Ok, so for crafting, the Crown Store has been P2W for a long time. Motifs, Research Scrolls, furniture, ZOS just keeps screwing crafter more and more. Vvardenfell drop rates for furniture plans and motifs (BA, pickpocket only for Great House). Like to craft your own stuf and already sub? Yeah, not enough money for ZOS. (Hey devs, if that's not your opinion, the game does a poor job of showing it)

BTW - You cannot buy style stones in the crown store, only mimic stones, and those are bound.

Styles stones in game SHOULD be salable, not bound. Why would you bind a style stone? No reason.

But you use mimic stones to create style stones, and if they come from real $ that is the definition of P2w.

Nope. Mimic stones do not CREATE style stones, they are used INSTEAD of style stones. So when you go to craft, there's a check box to use mimic stone instead. Useful for Master Writs if you know a style like Mazzatun but don't have Leviathan Scrimshaw to craft it.

Edit: So you can tear apart the crafted piece to hoepfully get a style stone out, but it's a really poor ROI. Mimic stone is expensive, and the highest value style stones are only 1k each.

The crown style gems are about 3k average per from TTC, so yeah not really that much profit but still a RL conversion to in game currency, also if an item was crafted I believe its 100% chance to retain the style material.

You can decon crownstyles and sell the stylestones, for some reason they aren't bound, however it doesn't seem to be worth it. For example the MM for Stahlrim shards is 7,4k but they are barely sold. They should never the less be bound or turn back into mimic stones.

No, the chance is not 100%, and what's a crown style gem? If you mean mimic stone, someone is able to make bound items unbound, and that's a TOS violation. Every time I buy mimic stone, it says bound.

I don't understand why this gets used so often. Pay to Win means getting an advantage, better gear, weapons, items that have to be paid for with real money that aren't in the game. Best in slot maelstrom weapons, monster helms/shoulders, set gear from vet trials would be pay to win.

Getting a piece of shalk innards/amber marbles/stalhrim shards/goldscale/whatever isn't really going to do much to make your character super uber. Won't even help your crafter much. Sure won't win maelstrom arena or get you emperor.

This game is not P2W. The fact that some purely aesthetic items are crown store exclusives or you can get some convenience items like XP scrolls or riding lessons for crowns is not P2W.

Having scrolls that increase your damage by 10% on top of in game obtainable buffs or make your mount 10% faster on top of training or even weapons/armor that are hard to obtain in game sold in crown store would be P2W.

I think by "crown style gem" they mean the style stones that are obtained when you decon a crown-only style. So, a Stahlrim shard would be a crown style gem, since the only way to get it is to create a Stahlrim piece using a mimic stone and then deconning for the style stone. These should be bound, rather than being able to be sold. But, their solution was to reduce the amount of mimic stones included with the purchase of the motif (Grim Harlequin offered 54 with the motif, while Stahlrim only offered about 5). The better solution to me, would seem to be to make the Stahlrim Shards and whatever the Grim Harlequin one is bound if you happen to get it during the decon process.

You craft the in game armor piece then salvage it for the style mat which is 100% for crafted gear, looted gear only has rng drop chance to it.

Bolded out the part u seem to be missing: motifs r cosmetic items. u dont get any advantage over other players by buying motifs. Grinding motifs doesnt take weeks or month.
Crafting green food -> sell to npc -> 20k/hour -> 10~12 hours per buy-an-armchair motif.

I thought you could get Grim Harlequin during Witches festival last year? I don't have this motif, but I did have some of the stones until I sold them. Maybe it was a bug. Either way, I don't care if the stones are salable. I do get requests of Grim Harlequin style fairly frequntly, but even if I knew the motif, I'd be forced to use mimic stone, as the style stones don't drop anywhere.

I'm still trying to understand how being able to make fancy outfits is pay to win. There is no "advantage". Even if you do use mimic stones to make gear then decon it for stalhrim or amber marbles, you don't always 100% of the time get the style mat back. At least my crafters don't. So you're using your RL money to buy mimic stones to maybe get a chance to sell a not otherwise available style mat for in-game gold......

Now the day the devs start a "Show off your fancy outfit and how you dyed it" contest and the winner gets to be Emperor.....that might qualify the crafting stuff as pay to win.

How does the way a character's armor look give them an advantage, especially when lots of people wear costumes? Does that mean I have an advantage because I wear a costume I bought from the crown store? What you mean everything else is bind on pickup? The only thing I get regularly that's Bop are dungeon/trial drops.
