xbox one vs one s vs one x

I'm still playing on the original xbox one and im really sick of lagging around tamriel, especially when doing group activities. I have been thinking about getting the new xbox one x when it comes out, but haven't found much to read on expected game play performance improvement.

My questions are:

1) Should i expect a noticeable reduction of lag if I were to switch to a xbox 1 s? Its alot cheaper than the one x, so its very intriguing since i dont have a 4k tv anyways.
2) Is it likely that the xbox one x will provide a less laggy experience than the xbox one s?

I do not know crap about processors and memory, etc so a response from anyone that does would be awesome. Thanks.

Obligatory pc master race post. Anyway I feel eso is badly optimized for console as most performance issue posts are related to console... and pvp is universally *** in performance

Actually I see way more PC players complaining about lag...I really don't have any issues on ps4. It's not your console/pc that causes lag, it's slow internet.

My internet does just fine on every other game ive ever played online. I think all of the effects and just the way eso runs causes lag. example is when doing a group parse on centurion dummy, i lag when the group ulti dumps but as soon as the ultis clear, lag improves drastically.

if an updated console improves that, I am definitely going to invest in it.

Lol, standing by myself somewhere on Xbox I don't see 30 frames.

The difference between the original xbox and the 1s are barely noticeable in game tbh. Slightly better than horrible is still horrible. The Xbox x should give better frames, but even then I doubt it will be much better. You might see 30 fps then. I play on both PC and xbox and I literally get a migraine logging on to raid on Xbox. My absolutely worst frames on PC are better than my best frames on Xbox.

Mine is not getting delivered until later in the month according to Walmart so it might take some time to get enough good data if it is getting slow delivered. I am getting the Scorpio edition. Maybe the delivers are slow in this area or just slow from Walmart.

I would like to see data as early as Nov 7th/8th but I would think it would be closer to the end of the month even if there is a lot of people that get theirs on the day it is released.

Also when is ESO adding support for Xbox One X 4K textures and increased performance? Is that all coming with CWC?

My hopes are that I see a change in speed when I load into area. Not the loading screen, but when you come out of a building for example or run into or out of a large battle area in Cyro.

My internet does just fine on every other game ive ever played online.

This statement shouldnt be used. There are multiple reasons why a particular game will lag when others dont.

im going to really dumb this down as much as i can.

imagine the block you live on is square. you live on one side, and on the opposite side lives ESO. its a square. you can leave your house, go left or right, and go around the block to get to ESO. both ways are the same distance and take the same amount of time. On the two vacant sides live world of warcraft, and opposite that live world of tanks. you can also get to those fine.

Now between World of warcraft and ESO some moron crashes their car and it explodes in a fireball. You now dont want to go this way to ESO. But your ISP says this is the best way to go and still forces your traffic to go this way. So world of tanks is fine, its on the other side. WoW is fine, as its before the crash. But ESO lags because you have to go around the fire.

Its not ESO's fault. Its not your fault. Everything else on the internet works fine too.

Also nvidia drivers were causing crashes with ESO for a while. They release a bunch of notes that will usually tell you what issues the particular driver has (though this wasnt one of them, it was in fact a known fault). I had this particular issue and it didnt affect other games either.

My new dlink wireless adapter caused SWTOR to constantly disconnect. But nothing else. I could load a video in my browser, and it would be fine, but SWTOR would disconnect.

Thats just off the top of my head. Just because other stuff works, doesnt mean its a fault with the game.

I would advise against purchasing either upgraded Xbox solely for an improvement in your ESO experience. If you want to upgrade your console anyway and you're just trying to use ESO to justify it that's a different story

I switched to a XB1S when it was released, and there's no difference in lag (i.e. I get the same lag as with the classic XB1). In fact, my wife and I have consoles right next to each other and the only difference is the optional 4K (and physical box aesthetics).
The guts of the consoles are nearly identical:

    Xbox One Classic
    CPU: 1.75GHz 8-core AMD Jaguar
GPU: AMD GCN GPU @ 853Mhz w/ 12 compute units
    RAM: 8GB DDR3
    WIFI: 802.11a/b/g/n
    Memory bus: 256-bit
    Memory bandwidth: 68GB/s

    Xbox One S
    CPU: 1.75GHz 8-core AMD Jaguar
GPU: AMD GCN GPU @ 914Mhz w/ 12 compute units
    RAM: 8GB DDR3
    WIFi: 802.11a/b/g/n/ac
    Memory bus: 256-bit
    Memory bandwidth: 68GB/s

Possibly the addition of the ac wireless protocol if you are using that (we are not).

Now the Xbox One X upgrades many more components that may make a difference:
    CPU: 8 core x86 CPU @ 2.3GHz
GPU: AMD custom GPU @ 1,172MHz w/ 40 compute units
    RAM: 12GB GDDR5
    Memory bus: 384-bit
    Memory bandwidth: 326GB/s

I'd be curious to hear if anyone has tested the X

I suspect that with the xbox one x the game will slightly improve for us console users since its supposed to be more like a decent pc, from what ive heard.. However, this isnt going to change the awful state that the game is in. If you experience lag glitching and an overall clunky gameplay, like i do, dont hold your breath. If it looks like an old fashioned picture book when you are in a big cyrodil fight with 40+ people around, dont expect that to change..

Graphics probably will be better but i suspect that the game performance will never be better because zenimax refuses to even address it, never mind fix it, or try to make it better.. Or at least i cant find any info saying they are working on it, and have asked dozens of times on the forums. From what i understand the xbox one s is slightly better than the xbox one, but with similar hardware. The xbox one x is supposed to be a big step up, but also 500 bucks.

Funny how pc players froth at the mouth over more fps, but ignore the macro meta, CE and plethoria of other cheats/add-ons thag ruin the game.

The only thing I can comment on is that the Xbox One Elite has better load times than the original Xbox One.

I'm optimistic about the Xbox One X chiefly because of the specs. I hope it shows something noticeable.

I’ve played the Xbox and PS4 versions, and the Xbox gameplay is pretty terrible.

The only thing that the Xbox excels at is the voice chat.

    LOL...NO.

When you've trained yourself to accept 30 fps as "OK", then you'll never notice lag. Most of the lag people complain about here is caused by server load. Hell, I have the fastest residential cable internet available in this part of the country, 150down/40up, and still get some lag.

And the voice chat is obnoxiously loud and extremely poorly optimized and everyone sounds like they're on a megaphone
