Is there a way to slow down my mount speed?

I know this sounds like a strange question to ask, but when I'm out questing I really like to take in the ambiance of the place and feel like a traveller. But ever since I've upgraded my horse over the past year or two I find that it is just way too fast all the time, like I'm sprinting for my life at all times.

Is there a way to temporarily downgrade my riding speed to a regular trot without actually slowing to a walk? I.e., get a new fresh mount that hasn't been affected by the upgrades so I can ride at zero speed again.

Use toggle walk/run
And then put on the alliance war skill rapid maneuver/ retreating maneuver.

You will have a proud looking horse, while walking at a slower speed

Edit: Toggle walk run is found in the keybinds
Bind it on a key and use whenever c:
There is also something called 'assist rapid riding'
Which will equip the skill automatically when u mount up.

Note:

I've noticed that using a controller I can control the speed manually by exerting limited pressure on my joystick... But I am not used to playing with a controller.

Is there a way to simulate this effect on the keyboard?

No there is not other then running into NPCs with a snare ability but that would not last long anyways . Maybe in the potion tables there is a potion with slow in there . Not sure if it work if you mounted up or even if it exists . You'd have to check a potion crafting website and look .

Try making a potion with what ever water your level , luminous rusulla , spider egg and emetic rusulla . That's speed -50 % and see if it stays on while mounted .

I'mma guess you're PC, cause with Console you just control your movement speed with the Thumbstick.

Never mind , just bind a key to walk/run . That will put you slower . If the walk is still to fast that is all you can do you can't reverse mount upgrades . I know some RP players don't like how fast the walk speed is at level 60 so maybe the potion trick will work for those people that want a slower walk like when they first got the characters started .

Thanks but I logged in an tried it and none of the slow potions worked on mounts unfortunately ..

I tend to walk my horse a lot - in town and often when just enjoying the scenery. I find a maxed speed (60) horse at a walk to be a very nice pace if not in a hurry.

As mentioned above just bind a key to walk run toggle. You'll be quite slow but at least the upgrades will help you walk faster
