Weakness to elements?

Couple questions on weakness to elements ...

First, does anyone use this, and is it effective?

Second, the tooltip says it reduces spell resistance... so does that include raw magic damage too, or just fire/frost/shock?

I was thinking of dropping this before my dots because it sounds like it may really increase their damage ... but it may be too good to be true.

Elemental drain (the morph) is key on endgame healers. Yes, it applies to all magic and elemental damage.

Any decent healer will run it in a dungeon or trial for you. You don't really need it solo since few mobs you face in overland have resistances high enough that some spell pen from another source won't do the job on its own.

Any it will drop spell resistance so raw magic damage is more effective as well.

It's something that a lot of healers will slot in groups. It does help with all magic damage because it's Major Breach. And one of its morphs also adds magicka steal which helps with resources.

In solo play? I don't bother because it's not needed but i suppose a solo VMA build might use it. I just never have.

Yeah reduced spell resistance increase raw magic damage even those of damaging item sets.

I like to run it on my Magicka builds because of the Magickasteal... great for helping with resource management.

Does it also improve dot dmg? I was thinking of applying it before dots as an opener

If just running around solo it is not really needed, but if you really the reduced spell resist on your targets it is not bad. I do not use it as a DPS.

It has nothing to do with DOTs or direct damage or AOE, it reduces their resistance to ALL magic damage and this also includes fire, frost and lightning.

If your single target DOT does magic damage = yes
If your single target DD does magic damage = yes
If your AOE DOT does magic damage = yes
If your AOE DD does magic damage = yes
If your ultimate does magic damage = yes

It does not reduce their resistance to physical or poison damage.

I put it on my bar for solo play it never leaves. The Magicka steal and spell pen is vital for soloing world bosses.. otherwise you have to heavy attack way too much. I am a Magdk so perhaps we have more magicak issues than other classes.

Well half the time your PUG dungeon healer doesn't have it... and if I realise they do then I replace it with Harness magicka.

It would actually be more useful for the magicka return as opposed to the breach and fracture as theoretically this should be provided by the tank with Pierce Armor... also if a templar on your team runs Radiant Aura, it might be superfluous since Radiant Aura is an AOE mag steal...So in the end...it totally depends on your team composition...
