Thinking out Loud: Daggers Increase Direct Damage from Behind, rather than Crit Chance.

Crit chance is fine and all, however what if it played more into player positioning? Being an active part of combat rather than just upping the standard rotation crit chance while going through your rotations. You'd be playing off of the enemy position as well. In solo scenarios it'd require you to take advantage of class stunning abilities or taking enemies by surprise.

This could be in the form of changing the increased crit chance to increased damage Direct Damage dealt from behind an enemy (which might need some tuning with the sword passive so that it isn't a case of which one offers the best % damage bonus) Or augmenting Abilities against enemies who have their back turned to you.

Of course this is just rambling.

    I have proposed that idea for a new nightblade skill, didn't get much love.

    Agree with this. There are also sets that increase damage from stealth and from behind the target (Flanking Strategist 5pc Adds Weapon Damage to abilities when attacking from behind) that will do extra damage anyway.

    Yeah, that's pretty much what I'm talking about. rather than having them be sets, it could be interesting having each dagger add +300 (or something) weapon damage to your attacks while behind a target.

    Looks like I didn't make a totally seperate thread for it, but it is included in the original post here.

    The thread got a lot of love, but I did want to see nightblades agony skill replaced with "backstab". Obviously would be an awesome skill for both magblades and stamblades.

    Hmmm. a single ability having the bonus feels like it would box that ability in a bit too much. I could see it being added to a passive and have it synergize well with some reworks on NB abilities. Perhaps we could make a new thread (you or I start it), that discusses improving the NB experience by differentiating it's playstyle in PvE? Perhaps using directional damage as a core basis?

    Crit is still king in pve so no lol. You want extra damage then get the sets to do so.

    No nerfs to daggers please.
    To much of an on/off thing imo: In groupcontent u will always get the bonus, as the meatshield turns away the target. In solocontent u will never get the bonus, as stuff keeps facing u. Except from stealth, but u already get a x3 bonus there, which mostly results in oneshotting the target.
