Questions on Tank Build for next patch

With the next patch nerfing my tank build, I'm wondering which set to replace my tavas on my tavas/dragonguard/BS dk tank. I was thinking werewolf hide to compliment the ultimate gen build, but upon reading some guides Torugs pact seems to be the new meta nowadays. What do you guys think?

Ebon or torugs pact or alkosh if you have it.

There is not many sets that are worth running other then those, I run ebon on both my dk and warden tanks. The extra health is something only you can provide, so I find it much more useful then a few more percentage of dps. I also usually run pugs. If you are in an organized group, you run whatever complents the rest of your team.

Thanks for linking that thread. Upon reading I have some questions about it (I've asked these questions on that thread but I'm not getting a response).

If the healers decide not to run crusher/weakening would Torugs be worth using then?

Also, with Tavas being out, would the new ultimate setup be dragon/BS/werewolf or dragon/BS/potentates and a 2 piece maelstrom/master/asylum sword and board? Mostly because they've made some changes to the weapons and the sword and board are considered two pieces so are they worth using with potentates over werewolf hide?

@RT_Frank why no mention of ebon? Every tank ought to have a set of that in their inventory at least, it is a better way to support your team then having warhorn up 5 seconds sooner.

I use ebon, bs and I actually run dragonguard on my back bar with warhorn there, for the cost reduction and a master sword on the front, this set up will be even better next patch, when I can actually enchant the master sword with a crusher.

I do have an Ebon set but my original question was about ultimate gen builds. I prefer these builds to Ebon since, imo, Ebon is more limited to trial settings while ultimate gen builds get just as much use in vet dungeons and dragonstar. Not that Ebon can't be of use in these scenarios, it's just that its effect gets less useful while having more warhorns will always be useful in any group content.

You do understand you're going to lose your current front bar shield in the process, right? It's going to be a 2pc set to get the heal buff, though the extra mitigation will be nice.

While Ebon is nice, it shouldn't always be required, as 1k health shouldn't be resulting in multiple deaths in most situations. Wear a set that benefits the situation. In circumstances where you are with your group there are group buffing sets. In situations where you are alone (certain fights where you have to provide your own support), there are more selfish sets that equally benefit the circumstance.
Just because you don't like the way something is doesn't necessarily make it wrong...

    Earn it.

IRL'ing for a while for assorted reasons, in forum, and in game.
I am neither warm, nor fuzzy...
Probably has checkbox on Customer Service profile that say High Aggro, 99% immunity to BS

I do understand, I still get the ulti cost reduction where I want it, on warhorn. the ultimate on my front bar is really only there for oh crap, magma shell, if my team is really bad or for the magic regen buff, barrier. I hardly ever use it so I don't need that cost lowered.

I did not say always I said it benefits the group more and more often then having warhorn up a nominal amount sooner. I have played all three roles, a lot, and I prefer both as a dps and more importantly, as a healer, that the tank has ebon on more then warhorn 5 seconds sooner.

I have tanked the last boss in vDSA more times then I have healed vDSA, and you are right about sometimes you need a selfish set and that is one of them, then I usually run tavas intead of ebon, though I will have to change this. Probably to witchmans for more health and stam returned on ulti use. We will see.

Would like to know if werewolf hide or potentates/master/asylum/vma sword and board would be a better replacement for tavas

Dragon seems to be best because of 2-3-4 stats . Also comes in Healthy jewelry .

Werewolf and Dragon are close in terms of ultigen but Dragon is better for the reasons I said above . And Werewolf requires you to get hit , need to keep that in mind .

    Wait, are we losing shuffle?
.... I have to admit, the devs do listen to reason, if not to the forums. Thank you for "nameplates", a welcome addition to immersion, as well as the text chat box for PS4, which only comes on the screen when I need it too, and helps this gameplay SO MUCH MORE then without it. THANK YOU for the additions. Very much appreciated.

Read through patch notes, can't find anything on tank changes. Anyone care to enlighten?

@Liofa I agree but my question was a reiteration of my unanswered question about my build, that will already use dragonguard and BS, if werewolf hide or potentates (with the sword and board sets) can replace tavas. My current build uses tavas along with dragon and BS and I'm asking which combo can best replace tavas for a more efficient tank

Ah sorry for misunderstanding . I think this setup would be best : http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Special:EsoBuildData?id=28925

Just a quick theorycrafting . Looks better than most I would say if you are not planning to use Ebon .

Note : It doesn't show there but it actually reduces Warhorn cost to 192 or 193 when switched to back bar .

Buffs : Tri-Stat food , Vampire , Major Ward and Major Resolve , Lord Mundus . No Warhorn applied . Pretty good stats I think .

Thanks for the post! This is an interesting build where you switch to potentates for warhorn but get hit while on werewolf hide.

I noticed that this build removes bloodspawn in order to make room for the potentates. Is this because potentates gives more warhorn than bloodspawn? (even tho BS has an rng component so it's rate can vary)

Yep . Blood Spawn is so much RNG based . In PvP , it almost procs on cooldown because a lot of people attack you at the same time and put DoTs and stuff . In PvE , you barely get hit other than specific fights . Sometimes , Blood Spawn gives you faster Warhorns compared to Potentates but Potentates is not based on RNG . I have had 3-4 minute fights where I didn't get a single Blood Spawn proc . But sometimes you get 3-4 in a minute in a regular fight which happens rarely .
