What vampire stage do you prefer

Some people say a proper vampire stays at stage 4 and some say a proper vampire drinks blood and stays well fed at stage 1 or maybe you just want a little regen for stage 2 or some survivablity in stage 3, you may also like the stealth bonus at stage 4 or heck maybe you just play a vamp for looks.

Here is a link as reminder of stage pros and cons

I like the appearance and stealth bonus of stage 4. Once in a while, if I need extra survivability, I will feed to stage 3.

Stage 1 while idle, Stage 2 while questing or doing dungeons (unless there’s a lot of fire). Everything else is just too goofy-looking for me. Some people make it look cool, but it doesn’t really fit with my characters.

That aside, it doesn't matter what stage you're at. So long as you're a vampire, I call you kin. If you're a mortal, I call you prey. If you're a werewolf, I call you my *****. :naughty:

Easiest way I found to become a vampire (without spending crowns) was to head to the shrine in any factions last area and ask in world chat. There seemed to be plenty of people willing to do it for free. There are plenty of guides on the internet showing the location.

    With the stages,

Stage one, basically you just have the look. No benefits or drawbacks.
Stage two, 15% flame damage taken, 25% lower health regeneration and 7% lower vamp ability costs.
Stage three, 20% flame damage taken, 50% lower health regeneration and 14% lower vamp ability costs.
Stage four, 25% flame damage taken, 75% lower health regeneration and 21% lower vamp ability costs.

Use vamp skills to advance the stages quicker, feed to drop back down a stage.

    Hope this helps :)

I actually like all 4 of the stages, believe it or not. I like the variable gameplay they bring from a mechanics standpoint. And as a roleplayer, each stage can have a use depending on your storyline. The only thing missing is a fully mortal appearance, which is completely in accordance with TES lore.

That, and I wish guards would attack you and citizens would flee in terror at stages 3 and 4!

There is no real point to playing a vampire until one hits Stage II, which is where the magicka/stamina recovery passive kicks in. This is the default starting point, or ought to be.

From then on, it is really a question of a) stage management and b) whether one wishes to utilize the damage reduction (Stage III) and crouch speed (Stage IV) passives. Personally, I find it easiest to just drop all the way to Stage IV as this triggers all the Vampire passives and is the easiest to manage (just do not ever feed).

The difference in appearance between the stages is negligible enough - on my rig, at least. I suppose others might try and put in the modicum of effort to stay in Stage II or Stage III for a...slightly less "damaged" appearance? Or perhaps slightly less bad health recovery? As I said, I just see no reason to bother.

While I visually prefer stage 2 the most, my vampire is usually stage 4 (with rare exceptions in fire heavy content). I like the stealth passive too much to give it up.
