Path to Moonmont-can't get

OK, annoying quest-dork here. 
I am trying to get the Path to Moonmont quest.
I did not get a quest from Kauzanabi-jo after First Step. I have not done Motes to Moonlight. Access to the temple is blocked.
I'm aware I'm not stuck in the 'usual' sense as I can continue questline by going on to Moonmont and getting Motes to Moonlight, but the issue for me is I want to do all quests possible. CS was super kind and replied to my ticket that both quests can be done as long as I've not done Motes to Moonlight but darned if I know how. Anyone got any suggestions!
I've read similar threads of people not getting this quest and saw the workarounds but not a solution to actually get the quest.

✭✭✭✭✭While CS is technically correct, in practice they are mistaken. You can technically accept The Path to Moonmont at any time before starting Motes in the Moonlight, but in practice, if you have already left Rawl'kha Temple, you cannot get back inside to accept this quest.UESP: The Unofficial Elder Scrolls Pages - A collaborative source for all knowledge on the Elder Scrolls series since 1995
