Magicka Sorc Leveling Build

I'm looking for a good leveling build for my mag sorc. He's leveling really slowly compared to my other toons, and it's because his damage is so minimal I might as well be healing my enemies to death. I know this is not how magsorcs are supposed to be. My main is a stam sorc so I am very familiar with the class, just can't seem to grasp this magicka thing. Any tips, or a link to a good LEVELING build, would be greatly appreciated.
Yes, I do heartily repent. I repent I had not done more mischief; and that we did not cut the throats of them that took us, and I am extremely sorry that you aren't hanged as well as we.

A Mag Source with no damage? How in the heck did you do that?

Are you wearing a Dropped set that favors magic? Because, that is all you need. Well, two of them if you can swing it. But, really, that is all you need. Does not matter what dropped set. Or, heck, a crafted set that favors magic and a dropped set. Or just a crafted set.

I mean, let me tell you how unimportant builds are when leveling a character, any character. I slot a skill until it reaches Morphs stage, then slot another. I don't care what the skills are, I use them and play with them until the next skill hits the morph stage. As skills unlock I spend the point and slot it. But, gear and rotations while leveling? Just have some gear and use a rotation.

Do you have any Champ Points? Is your new Alt using them? That will really help too.

Yeah, that's usually how I have built all of my classes. This dude just seems super weak to me, so I know that I'm doing something wrong. I've got 6 lvl 50's. Not new to the leveling game

    OK, the basics:

You have Magic based Armor, dropped or crafted. I use a Julianos 5 piece, Torugs two piece and some Elegant Jewelry farmed from a Dolmen. Shackle Breaker is a nice Leveling set as both Mag and Stamina can use it with a glyph swap out. Of course use Magic Glyphs on the gear. Seducer is good if sustain is an issue for you.

Your putting your champ points into stuff that helps Magic. Google Alcast and Sorcerer and you will find the target distribution for that.

Attributes, all in on magic. No Health, No Stamina.

Your using a Destro Staff. No Melee weapons for a Mag Sorcerer.

Skills, OK, I slot Mage Light from the Mages and keep it slotted until it morphs, and keep it after that, gives 5% magic boost fully leveled, and 10% Crit Chance boost. But, other than that, I just get skills to morph stage and swap them out.

Your putting some skill points, assuming your over L25 to L30, into the Light Armor passives to boost magic production.

If you have the above, it should not feel weak.

I take a slightly different route when leveling. I do go all in on the damage stat with character points, but having health is nice. My base set is always Vampire's Kiss. This gives lots of health and heals when an enemy dies. This allows me to go soloing the public dungeons as I come to them while leveling. I might be able to do this with a more damage oriented set, but it just makes things easy. And, since I am lazy, I like things easy.

Then, for a magicka character, I fill in with a set that gives magicka regen as one of the 1st 2 set bonuses. It seems to me that I have more trouble with regen on magicka characters while leveling than stamina. Seducer is an easy one to grab. You should have 3 pieces of that second set if you are using a crafted weapon as well (and why not?).

Next, I enchant everything. Depending on how I am feeling, I go upgrade to blue or purple for the training gear. Then I enchant all armor with the damage resource (magicka in this case) with the same quality glyphs. The weapons get a damage enchant or a magicka stealing enchant. I tend to upgrade gear every 10 levels.

As far as skills go, always have an AoE skill or 2 on your bar so that melee enemies have to come stand in it/them to attack you. As long as you get one thing to die fairly quickly, Vampire's Kiss will keep you going as your fight progresses. I always keep recently dropped potions slotted, but don't usually have to use any with this setup.

As far as damage output goes, I'm not sure what to say. It has been a while since I leveled my sorc, but it seemed like pretty smooth sailing. While I leveled everything, I have never been into pets so my sorc is the "curses and lightning everywhere" type. That was my focus while leveling as well.

One of Deltia's best builds is a mag sorc leveling build he had up on his website. I'm on mobile or else I'd link it but I think it was on the mag sorc dps page.

Very well put together build that got all my skill lines leveled evenly, even resto staff when I was first starting out. You're also putting out high dps for a low level character. Hope it's still up

I think more info about how you are currently set up might help. Tell us your current...
    Level, Attributes, CP (distribution)
    Gear (quality), Enchants (quality)
    Skills, Rotation

Also, what are your leveling goals? Just to get to 50 or to max out every class/weapon tree or what?

Ok, here it is. It looks like it's been modified since when I first started playing and he took off the bars that you're supposed to use at various levels, which was the best part by far. It also looks like a lot of the information has been taken away too, so it is a shell of its former self, but maybe still a good place to start.

Julianos training set should do the job, then whatever the drop set for that zone is.

Seducer helps if you are having sustain issues (or don't have acess to DLC), I normally make it for newbies..doesn't bring damage though.

Out leveling your gear is a common way to just have your DPS to drop dramatically. I had issues whenever I entered a zone where I didn't like the drop set.

    • The Force Shock (either morph)/Crystal Frags combo is your go-to for single-target damage.
    • Daedric Curse (either morph) isn't good for leveling; it's much better for boss fights and PvP.
    • Destructive Touch (either morph) is not as good as alternative uses of the time and magicka.
    • The ground-based AoE DoTs so good they're also used in single-target boss fights are Wall of Elements and Lightning Splash (either morph, although in PvE endgame groups with a tank Liquid Lightning is clearly better).
    • The Volatile Familiar's pulse can be added to that list, but for soloing the Clannfear has merit too (for tanking).
    • Endless Fury is cute while leveling but not really needed.
    • The passive that makes lightning heavy attacks AoE is useful
    • The most obvious opener is slow-cast Crystal Frags. Another good choice is to first send in the pet(s).
    • Great utility skills when you unlock them include Twilight Matriarch, Power Surge, and Ward (either morph).

Beyond that, general leveling knowledge should apply.
