Daily eso chores taking too much time ...

It seems by the time I log in 4 toons to hit the stables and do a provisioning writ (trying to get the purple food recipes) ... then I check my crafter to see if I have traits to research ... I barely have time left to actually "go play"

I know this is probably just a "noob" problem because all the pro's have the recipes and all their toons maxed on stable, but does anyone else feel like this is way time consuming?

Also, for the pro's/vets whatever ... after I get these chores grinder out in a couple months, what chores come next? I have a feeling there's gotta be more lol...

Especially farming for more crafting mats! Then you hunt down motifs you need for some master writs (can't find Order of the Hour Shields yet). Then you spend more money if you find those motifs. Then you realize you need another trait researched then spend more money to find armor/weapon with that trait. Then you farm for various things to sell so you can get more money to spend and sometimes that requires a daily quest or two. Then you get sidetracked with quests/dungeons/skyshards/tweaking skills and points. Then you realize it's time for bed/work.
The nerf to intelligent internet discussion still hasn't been resolved.

The problem with above average intelligence is that you're treading a sea of idiots.

That's the whole point of daily quests. Keeps you logging in to a lot of work for minimal reward.

Dolgubon's Lazy Writ Crafter Mainly used for Blacksmithing/enchanting/clothing/woodworking. Best thing to do with Alchemy and Provisioning is to make a stack of 10 items for the quest. There's only 2-3 per level. Then all you do is pick up the daily writ and turn around and hand it in.
then I check my crafter to see if I have traits to research ... I barely have time left to actually "go play"

Trait Buddy. Access what traits each of your character knows as well as how much research time is left...Regardless of which character you're on.

Takes me about 5 mins per character to do my "crafting" dailies. I'm done in around 20 mins.

i have 12 max level characters on my main server (EU), 1 newbie i keep meaning to level and a mule, on the other server (NA) i have 8 babies

on EU im doing 6 writs a day on 8 of the charcaters, to try and get enough master writ vouchers to by the furniture patterns i dont have yet

im still leveling mounts on 5 of the charcaters

on NA im training 8 mounts a day, doing 5 writs a day on each of them (not doing alchemy yet) although im running out of jute & iron so im gonna stop doing those writs soon,
doing these writs to get recipies, intricate pieces, level crafting, make money & collecting surveys for when i eventually get to cp 160

i then 'have' to go and kill many many NPCs everyday with blade of woe so i can make money at the fence

what is this 'playing' the game you speak of???????????????? :D:D:D:D

Just stop doing it, you don't need any of these things. Just train the mount and do writs on the character you want to play and forget the others.

If you aren't having fun. Choose something else.

This is why despite starting a month after PC release, none of my characters are totally "maxed out" for horse.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

I'm not interested in doing writs anymore, it's just too time consuming for the reward that they give at the moment. I got 8 chars and I get a decent amount of legendary improvement mats, as well as occasional master writs and gold, but it's just not enough for how long it takes.

I don't mean to be an echo of most people in this thread, but I've played almost daily since pc early access, except for three long break where I got burnt out and bored of the game. Each time I took a break it was during/after an incredibly grindy period that just put me off.

It's taught me 3 things that may be of interest. Firstly, you make no progress at all if you don't play at all. Secondly, the satisfaction of completing a boring grind is relatively short lived compared to the months trying to achieve it. Finally, if you just play the game normally you evenultually complete everything, it takes longer but it's more fun if it isn't a constant grind.
#1 tip (Re)check your graphics settings periodically - especially resolution.

If you don't enjoy it, don't do it. It's not compulsory, and it isn't a race to completion. Just play the game your way and in your own time.

I've been playing since PC launch and I think one character has maxed out his riding skills, another is close to doing so. I rarely bother with writs although all my characters craft their own stuff. I wouldn't dream of logging in a character just to do those sorts of things, I fit them in as and when.

Life is for chores, games are for fun.

Wait until you have 14 characters, doing all the crafting writs. For a long time I never did any of this stuff, but after receiving a few master writs, I began trying to collect all the attunable stations.

Saves a bit of time if you just collect the quests and then do them every other day, plus double the chances for large master writ.

    Life is made of choices.
In example, I could be a fairly wealthy dude commuting 2h a day and working 60h a week in a city I hate.

I chose to be "wealthy enough" and to live next to the beach on a tropical island where I don't even need a car (or any other travelling at all). I am really happy.

You could be a full maxed out craft slave-bot grinding for hours, or you can choose to have fun and only craft while you wait for your friends to come online or similar. You'll get less "mats" and perhaps some slower crafting level up, but you actually play "Elder Scrolls Online" and not "Craft Stuff Online".

I never understood why writs all have to be dropped off at different spots. Allow us to choose which spot to drop it, then it would dramatically reduce completion time. Would be a huge QoL improvement.

Really I get 5-10 gold mats daily from my writs, sealed writs and have been making about 200-500k a week in sales from them. Define minimal.

Fixing the AH/MB thing to find motifs would be a start. Looking for a particular one just add a option to remove all motifs already learned or actually type in under motifs "dagger-feet-hands" wateva and that's all that pops up. How hard is that?

Life is for chores, games are for fun.

Ha ha.. oh yes. I have leveled 16 toons of 18 to max CP. I mentioned 18 because I currently have 14 characters, but had deleted 4 previous maxed toons. Anyways, after doing end game contents repeatedly many moons ago, for me.. the fun and enjoyment of this game was or still is leveling up new toon from level nothing 3 to max 50. However, the game does become a chore after reaching level 50 and bouncing straight up to your max CP level. Now, you still have to level up your mount, there are still skills needing attention to be leveled up and grinding for XP so those skills can be leveled. There are also Mage and Undaunted skills you need to have leveled up for all toons, and with these, you're repeatedly grinding the dailies and other world boss pits XP bonuses. Well, sure, you don't have do it. You can always stop when your toons reach max level 50.

If only we are afforded more than 14 character slots, then I would create more toons to level up from level 3. I have just 2 toons left that are in the mid-level 40s. Well, once they are both at max level 50.. again, still have to level up the other skills, mount, Mage/Undaunted, etc. Then, all my 14 slotted character will be all maxed, and the only way to create a new toon is commit toon suicide (once again) on the current ones. So, in essence, it is a chore trying to level up everything after reaching max level 50 which you would need ton amounts of more XP in order to do so. It has been a chore grinding for those XP and having to do those dailies every time you sign on and log into the game. Same with farming mats and stuff.. well, it's not really fun, but you have to do it if you want those mats. Unless you're the type that just drop ton of gold after gold to repeatedly purchase those. So yes, even farming for mats and gold, in essence, has become a chore in this game.

Well, just like in life, it can be fun and a chore. Yes, if there is something you don't like, oh sure, you don't have to do it; however, if you don't do it, you won't get it or accomplish something pertaining to it. Many things in real life, you still have to do even if you don't like it. It may not be fun, but you will still have to do it. That's just part of life. Similarly, this game is the same way. As in real life, it can be fun, and it is also a damn chore! You don't need to do everything, but certainly, there are things you have to do, even if you don't like it or not..

One thing about this game is that there is a mountain of daily tasks that players can do. I figure that there are more daily tasks than a single player really needs to perform in a day. This is a good thing, in my mind. I like variety.

I do daily almost stuff every day on a couple characters. Takes less than a half hour. I have daily tasks I can do on almost all of my characters, and I have a lot of characters. Doing all of them, every day, would take too much time. These characters get done when I feel like it, and not every time I play them.

Any time a daily task starts being a chore, I do something else in the game. I just recently got horse training up to 60/60/60 on my first character about 2 months ago because I did not feel like stopping by a stable every day. This is despite the fact that I was in Belkarth doing crafting writs almost every day and literally ran past the stables each day.

For alchemy and provisioning, in addition to or as an alternative for PlagueSD's suggestion, I use the addons "Potion Maker" and "ESO Master Recipe List". Those don't do automatic crafting, but they have options to quickly select the potions/food/drink you need for the current writs.

I was feeling the same way, so I just stopped doing everything I found grindy, mostly due to poor RNG.

I don't do dailies. I no longer try to collect motifs, ridiculously rare (and desperately wanted) furnishing recipes or furnishing mats. I gave up on housing. No more writs for me because no point trying to chase master writs with the never-ending new motifs coming out, forcing you to collect them in order to better your chance at getting master writs, and I don't make enough in-game gold to buy the master writs from guild stores regularly because I don't grind to collect stuff to sell on guild stores.

I'm enjoying myself more now that I don't feel like I need to log on every day to fight with RNG over things I originally wanted, feeling like I was missing opportunities to maybe get one of the things I wanted if I missed a day. No more disappointment with RNG for me because I'm just not trying to get anything specific anymore.

I do play less now but at least when I do play, I enjoy myself more. I also spend less money on crown store stuff, so that's another good thing because I really used to spend a ridiculous amount of money in the store collecting mounts and costumes.

I even started playing on my 2nd account. My character over there has nothing. Hardly any gold, no CPs, no crafting, only 1 hairstyle and 1 costume from the crown store, and her original Imperial horse from buying the Imperial edition. It's incredibly refreshing to be starting over fresh with the goal of not chasing anything RNG based, having no feelings of HAVING to do something, and not paying any attention to the crown store. Also, being on my 2nd account means I don't have my poor crafter from my main account (who was trying to collect all the above) staring at me at the log-in screen, incomplete because she is missing all those motifs and recipes. :)
