How many of you face "random disconnects" while playing ESO ?

Disconnects and infinite loading screens are key features of all Online games, not problems.

This used to be a joke, but every online game I've played has this issue, and the game developers aren't going to fix it, so disconnects and loading screens pretty much are real features now.

    1-2 disconnects over 3-4 hours
Only issue with this poll is, the country where eso is played
Ive noticed anyone playing in america has minimal issues, europe get slightly more issues and oceanic players get shafted with horrible lag/connection issues (similar mmos we dont get as near as many issues as here).

Any devs actually reading this, "when are you guys going to have a serious look at your servers?"

I don't think the disconnections are the problem. I feel that the problem is reestablishing the connection properly after a 1s disconnect.

Good to know! If you don't mind my asking, was it the ASUS ROG GameFirst Software?

    @xRIVALENx

    Sorry for the delay.

Yes, that was exactly it. It caused disconnects, horrible (as in 10k ms) latency, and flagged me for CS review action.

I never used it. I didn't even know it was there (I must have autopiloted it onto my PC after a rebuild). All the issues above ended after I uninstalled it.

I am in Australia, and I sit on a comfortable 220-240ms latency with (knock on wood) no disconnects.

A couple years ago I would get dc’d pretty regularly. Recently, though, not so much. It’s been pretty stable.

I agree about the oceanic players, but my experience of the forums is the opposite of yours so far as US and EU players are concerned. NA players seem to have network issues and often complain of poor ISPs like Comcast, whereas EU players seem to have fewer issues and better ISPs. Over the years I've come across quite a lot of American players in MMOs who use the EU servers in part because they get more reliable performance (the other part being the difference in the communities).

I think the other issues with the poll are (a) whether you are on console or PC, and (b) if on PC whether you use addons. Console players seem to have it worse, and some addons appear to affect performance significantly.

This doesn't ask PC/PS4/XBONE. For me, next to never on PC. A few 999 ping times but rarely bordering on never disconnected.

OTTOMH, if problem is PC and is a regular occurrence, then check that the NIC power management is disabled, along with USB Selective Suspend. Oh, and play wired instead of wireless. I'm sure this won't help anyone since everyone knows everything already.

Yeah the pc and console part should be a factor.
My experience on pc was beta and the first 2 months. That was enough to say there was a serious lack of content and major lag issues for the $25 sub fee and so just went back to guild wars 2 for another year and a half, an had no lag issues there.
But times changed unable to use pc and made a switch to console and wanted the wvw experience from guild wars on ps4.... And behold eso is the only game with that on ps4 (lucky for zos in that regard) and feels like servers have not been worked on or touched since i was on pc and the lag issues are worse than launch.
plus since this issue hasnt really been addressed, alot of oceanic players just end up leaving completely or become boomerange players caming back every 6 months or so to leave again when lag is to unbearable.
    (Slight rant there, my bad)

okay, but frequent disconnects on a daily basis is not common.

Glad you are 100% positive it is nothing on your end and that you have not found any local internet issues. However, your last point is rather off by a bit if you are getting disconnected multiple times a day pretty much every day.

BTW. You didn't mention your addons were not part of the issue. Addons have the capability to cause the game client to crash.

Which brings up another point, if kicked to the login screen that's a disconnect from the server. If the game client crashes it's significantly less likely the connection to Zos but a local issue and a significant grated chance the issue is in the room you sit.

Hello again and thanks for trying to find a root cause / solution to this problem.

I forgot to say that I tested it without addons as well, but it didn't solve the issue.

My client doesn't crash, it happened some times, but that was months apart; I get kicked to login screen, with no error messages, and I can login back again immediately.

When I get disconnected investigation always shows that it is because the inestimable Mr Openreach has sent some of his minions round to jerk with my hook-up.

On the plus side, this happens very rarely.

Check and make sure you don't have extra sound drivers installed. Disable or uninstall any that aren't your normal sound one. This game seems to have a problem designating sound and gets confused if presented with multiple options, which can lead to random disconnects.

If you have an Nvidia graphics card, the Nvidia sound driver is safe to remove if you have another (like Realtek) that is working fine. It's only really used for streaming with their software, so leave it alone if you do that.

This is an excellent post. Agree 100%. I removed all extraneous drivers such as the Nvidia sound driver. No random disconnects or kick backs to login screen.

Disconnects are very rare... crashes are all to common - maybe 2 or 3 in three hours play :(

This has been happening for a long long long time. I think since they went Buy to play long time. Good connection, bad connection, no addons, bunch of addons, no matter what it happens occasionally. It used to happen a couple times an hour but now only 1-2 times a day, easily ignored.

The funny thing is, for some lucky reason I rarely get kicked to login when I am grouped. Or so I have noticed.

As a casual player I was satisfied that at one point I had a char max level and near max crafting with almost all motifs and I pretty much lost interest. Then ESO discovered DLC's and now my main is just a wanabe and I am happily pulled back into the game.
