The vast majority of gamers is said to create chars they either identify with (in a lookalike or wanna-be lookalike way) or would hit on.

A female char specced for strong/competent/independant is likely played by a female (and will get hit on), while a cute/sexy looking one will most likely be played by a male player, thus not get hit on. (As shown in the screenshots in this topic.)

For male chars, there r rumors of handsome looking chars getting hit on by female players, tho i never heard of male plyaers hitting on male chars. But u can actually get a guy jealous on a girl who plays your pretend-boyfriend on her beefcake chars ;)

For my part, i never understood why anyone would care for someones irl gender in a game, tho i found ppl who do to be infinite source of amusement. Stratgically, playing a cute looking female char definitely gives u an advantage, ppl r less likely to kick u from groups or even attack u in pvp. (True story: There was a guy who didnt want to attack me in a match in swtor, he wispered me afterwards that he got flamed by his team for not helping them^^)

And for the past.. god knows how many weeks... I have had random guys come up to me, send me whispers, even give out marriage proposals, ask me if I'm single, if I don't want to be single anymore, etc.

Hey numbnuts, ESO isn't your personal dating site!

It doesn't really bother me. I find it more hilarious that guys have to be so pathetic. Any other people experience this?

Well, for someone who doesn't want attention it's funny how you make a post plus screenshot to get attention.

Also, met my wife in an MMO, as well as two girlfriends before her.

MMOs are just like anything else humans do, whether its hunting, fishing, sports, yadda yadda--the list goes on. Wherever humans congregate doing things that they love, meeting someone that shares your interests and passions is only natural.

I did have someone hitting on one of my characters in SWTOR who was a young and fierce Twi'lek (yeah yeah, I had the Twi'lek dancing costume and all), but I'm not a fan of extremely revealing costumes, so I rarely used it. I did take an immensure pleasure tormenting the poor dudes until the last second - basically until I had to join a voice server. Much to their disappointment.

    Crazy.

It was not meant in a mean way and as you know I haven't blamed the OP. Things can happen in MMO, it's natural that some guys are whispering female characters ingame because they like the look of her.

I wonder how you interpretate my sentence like that "saying it's her fault for getting hit on so often".

The only things you can do against when someone finds your female character sexy ingame:

    - ignore that person because you don't like it
    - talk to that person because you like it
    - play a male character because they are not getting hit so often
    - quit ESO and any other MMO

Although I really don't think that would happen often, because most of the people never know if there is a real girl sitting behind the character or a G I R L (guy in real life). Maybe the OP had just bad luck that day.

To the people in this thread saying they have hot characters and never get hit on the answer is fairly obvious. You probably run around and generally look like you know what you are doing. Dodge correctly, have a decent build, you know perform your role well. All signs that you are really a dude in real life...

Probably one of the most sexist comments I've seen so far and not sure if its being serious or not.

Obviously, it isn't serious. They went to a lot of effort to set it up for the punch line.

I am guildmistress of a very small guild called Safe Word and I always wear my guild tabbard. Occasionally, when I am out exploring, I will run into someone who follows me around for awhile and just gives me random stuff. These are usually RL "subs" who just want to pay homage, lol. Our guild name is more of a joke than an actual S&M reference. I felt very awkward the first time this happened, but now I just kind of roll with it and thank them.

My toon also gets random guys coming up and doing the "nailing" emote at her.

Hmm, weird, I'm a "girl" and usually wear the most revealing costumes I can find and I never get whispers...

Hey, just because I'm a chick doesn't mean it gives someone the right to harass me.

What was harrassing? Asking for an ingame wedding? Being whispered? Seriously if someone approaches you or whispers a proposal of any kind its only harassment if you tell them you arent interested and they persist. Nothing in the OP said that was the case.

Stop being all hurt in the butt over being contacted in an MMO.

My strategy with people who try to flirt is to re-direct.

Be nice. Talk about the game. Get them to run a dungeon.

It almost always works out that I become a person to them, instead of an assembly of pixels, and they lay off the smut talk. In almost every case, it turns into a pal I can hit up for pledges.

I think most people are just awkward at making friends, and whispering about your appearance is the only strategy they've got.

    Works for me, anyway.
